Cyntasia

"Cyn, pleaseeeee!" my best friend of over ten years, Nicole, begged over FaceTime as she applied the finishing touches on her makeup. "It's the damn season opener. Everyone's gonna be there!"

"Nikki, I have a shit load of homework to do AND I have a 8 AM tomorrow and I just don't think—"

"Cyntasia, I understand that. I have shit to do too. But you knew this day was coming and you know how important this is for Devin. He's starting!"

"I knowww." I whined. "You know I love Dev and I always wanna support—"

"And what better way could you show you support then to come to the game?"

I sighed as I glanced at the time on my phone, which read 5:02 pm.

"What time is tip off?" I questioned.

"Girl, 7." Nikki answered.

I huffed sarcastically before closing my laptop and responding. "Fine. I'm 'bouto get dressed then I'll be on my way."

"THANK YOU BEST FRIEND! I FUCKING LOVE YOU!"

"Mhm, love you too. Text you when I'm leaving." I smirked, then hung up.

After I connected my phone to my bedroom stereo system, I quickly picked an outfit out of my closet and took a shower. I decided to keep it simple; just a white bodysuit, a black bomber, and blue jeans. I kept my makeup minimal and tossed half of my wig up into bun before slicking my edges down, and after I was all dressed I went down the hall to my mom's bedroom to tell her that I was leaving.

I knocked softly on her door two times, then peeped my head into the room.

"I'm going to Devin's game with Nikki, Ma. I'll be back later."

"Okay baby," She said with a wine glass in her hand, not even looking up from her work. "Have fun, and be safe. I love you."

"Love you too." I said, closing her door. After texting Nikki to let her know what I was leaving, I jogged down the stairs and grabbed my purse and keys, then slipped my uggs on and went out of the door.

The drive to campus was short, which is exactly why I chose stay at home. Why would I pay for room and board when I literally live 15 minutes away? My girl Nicole doesn't see it that way though. As soon as she could leave her cousin Mika's house and move to campus, she was gone and she hasn't looked back since. Honestly though, I don't blame her. Her living situation is much better now than it was when she was staying with her cousin.

I pulled into the parking lot of her dormitory building and texted her that I was outside so that she could come buzz me up. The security at her front desk is usually cool about visitors coming in without an escort, but since it's game-day they're making everyone check their guests in.
