The Child

The child can only hide herself away

Cowering to her room as her father sips at yet another beer

Binge drinking nearly everyday

Her family faces days filled with only misery and fear

And that poor little girl, forced to see him drunkenly abuse his wife

Tries to escape, but it's to no use

As she cries on the school rooftop, thinking of throwing away her life

Crying at the haunting words of her bullies' abuse

The little girl faces her cruelly set fate

And as years go by she sees it gets better slowly

A day at a time she stays strong and fights the world's hate

And she tells herself that it'll be okay, her voice droning on lowly
