I peered into my reflection once applying the powder around my face, gradually and tenderly tapping it to conceal any imperfections.

My eyes then caught a glimpse of themselves. It was then and there that I found myself in search for the part of me I couldn't find.

And just to think that when this all started I felt as if I was living yet now I'm demanding– demanding for my entitlement to be heard and acknowledged as me. Delilah Smith.

Every sound that was once so clear became white noise faded into the back ground the more profoundly I stared.

My crew talking my ears off, the phone ringing repeatedly, and my fans chanting my name–it all seemed to fade into peculiar whispers.

Over the years everything had been moving so fast that I didn't have time to breathe but now that I took my first breath, I realized how my life had made a complete about face and the grass was much greener on the other side.

But my mother always said that real grass turned grey, and this grass was green year round.

The limelight may have had its many perks, the fame and luxuries, but in exchange I was no longer Delilah for fame was me

And
                    I
was
                          fame.
