"Oh, sorry man." I said dumbfounded.

"Yeah, yeah whatever, get out." Lou said with a grin.

I gathered my things, stood up ,slapped Lou on the back and left to my pathetic apartment.

Once I was out of the building and a good distance away I looked through one of the windows that was near the entrance of the Cafe. The window was foggy and right behind them there she sat with her back towards me. I could tell by the way her small shoulders were shrugged that she was still reading that book.

I took one more last look at her, inhaled the cold air and brought the collar of my jacket closer to my jaw line as I crunched away on the two inch thick snow.
