Patty POV

I watched the Jeep until it was out of sight. Then all the bottled  emotions from the last 24 hours hit me like a ton of brick. My legs gave out and Dan pulled me to him before I could hit the ground.  I was so overwhelmed, so much has happened that I haven't been able to process it all.  It was bad enough my baby girl  was moving so far away, but now she has some strange rogue male at her side.

Dan carried me inside and laid me on the couch. My body felt as if all the energy was drained from it. He pulled a throw over me and gave me a kiss on my forehead.

"I'll fix you a hot tea, you just rest here" His voice was full of concern as he moved to the kitchen. I couldn't even bring myself to answer him. I just laid there and listened to him fill the teapot with water as he went about fixing me a drink.  He is taking this a lot better than I am at the moment.

The blowup before her graduation was horrible, when she told me her plans with him I lost it.I mind linked in anger to Dan telling him everything she was saying. Wrong move, he almost shifted in front of both of them. We had to leave fast or it would have raised  a lot more questions. Dan would have been outed as a werewolf and Betsi isn't ready for that yet.

At least we had a chance to make it up later. I love her so much that there isn't anything I would let come between us. I've been her mother since she was a baby , someday my sister will step back into her life but I will always be her Mom. I earned that right and no one will take that away from me, not even some rogue male that's hanging around.

Jason seems Ok, but I don't know him and he apparently doesn't know him self either. It could be her biological father at work here, sending some rogue to whisk her away from the safety of the pack. It could be a trick and no one is going to hurt my baby girl.

Jarlen hasn't given up trying to find his pups even after all these years.   We still get news of his trackers asking questions from the surrounding packs. We have friends in many of those packs and information filters through to us. The few who know the whole truth of their birth is limited , it is the only way to keep them safe. Most think that we adopted human children , and we don't tell them any different.  At least those bracelets are doing their job.

Only those few selected know the  whereabouts of the girls and I want to keep it that way. The only one Jarlen  had ever seen was Alisha, and that was when she was just a small pup. Alisha also looks like Jarlen the most according to Kurt.  Hopefully not enough to recognize her on the street.  But he does know her scent and even the silver bracelet might not be enough if he found her. I thank the Goddess every day she is overseas for school , living  near a large  pack in Spain while she's finishing her studies. They have  been watching out for her and she is safe.

But Betsi is a different matter, he's never laid eyes on her but the trackers seem to know some details about her. He was never told the second child was a girl, Katya hid that from him letting him think she had a male and that it died at birth. But apparently he knows differently now, and has been actively trying to find out more about her.

When Dan got the call from the Montana pack about a incident that happened to the girls  at a rest area, I about lost it. Betsi kept it from me, I'm sure she didn't think much of it and didn't want me to worry.  But that smelly rogue male called her by my sisters name,  and that means one of my sisters torturers is alive and he thought Betsi was her mother. That rogue pack was wiped out  years ago, but there must be a few who got away. I know only of Jarlen and his beta Balok as the only survivors and that was only by a twist of fate. There must of been others too.

They sent  warriors to deal with him but he got away , his trail headed south and trackers never found him. There is a chance he could notify Jarlen about her but I'm counting on that fact . I hoping he might think she's human and let it go.  Sure Samantha was there and he would know she's not human, but that silver bracelet made any wolf thinks Betsi had no wolf. The only thing he could go by was her looks, and she is the spitting image of my sister at around  the same age.
