You can't quite contain your laughter, Law staring at you as if you've completely lost your mind, for once his smirk is nowhere to be seen.
"I can't believe you smashed up dad's car~!" You manage to blurt out in between laughs, bringing a finger up to your eye and wiping away a small tear as your ribs begin to hurt. "Why though~?"
Your father has always been so proud of his vehicles so you can only imagine how pissed he was when a teenage Law had smashed one of them up - what makes it even funnier for you is that you know which car it was also.
There was one that suddenly disappeared about a decade ago, you were honestly glad to see the back of the eyesore. It was a hideous pink convertible and your father drove it everywhere.
It was honestly rather embarrassing, it looked like something Barbie would be driving.
And not to mention the number plate; D0FF1.
Seriously, your father has some questionable tastes.
Your giggles seemingly causing Law to smile, a faint smile but a cute one at that. "Delighted to see you find it funny, [F/n]-ya." You notice Law pull a thoughtful face, clearly trying to think of the best way to explain his reasons to you. He has probably worked out by now that you'll want every single detail so he'll have to be sure not to disappoint. "I didn't like his treatment toward Cora-san."
Immediately your laughter comes to a halt, your brows knitting together as you stare up at your lover, waiting for him to elaborate. You've always been led to believe your father was a good brother, although you admit that when he refused to visit Rosinante, you had wondered why he was being so cold.
"When Cora-san took me in, he sold his half of the family business so he could afford a bigger house for us to live in, Doflamingo didn't take the news too well." Law murmurs softly, a faint frown etched into his features as he begins to tense a little. "He started getting violent, grabbing Cora-san's throat and hitting him so I tried to get in between them but I was too weak to stop it."
Your heart aches as you watch your boyfriend struggle with the memories, his eyes darkening as he glances up to you, a slightly sinister smile spreading across his lips. "So, each time he hit Cora-san, I hit his stupid car."
When you put it like that, it sounds pretty fair.
"It would have definitely been the best way to gain his attention." You admit, not really knowing what else to say. It doesn't surprise you that your father got so violent when his brother attempted to sell half of the family business, Doffy has always taken the firm very seriously.
Although, you understand why Rosinante did what he did, he was trying to give Law a better life.
"Was he okay? Uncle Rosinante I mean, dad didn't...hurt him too badly?" Your question simply being answered with a shake of Law's head, his eyes finding yours again as he grins.
"Nah, he stopped attacking him when he heard the car alarm going off." Stepping closer to you, Law's hand rests against your cheek, his thumb tenderly stroking your face. "You called him that day though, he was going to kick the crap out of me for touching his car but his phone rang...it was you, [F/n]-ya."
Huh?
"You called him about some kind of stove fire." You can't help but smile sheepishly at the memory, you had decided to make yourself some food then forgot about it. "Is that why you eat at the café a lot? Because you're a bad cook~?"
Wow, hey! Low blow, Law!
Your lover only chuckling when you frown at him playfully, his lips pressing against your forehead. "Doflamingo didn't stick around when he had heard his daughter was in a fire but he has since made a point to remind me how much he hates me every chance he gets."
Yeah, not surprising! That car was his pride and joy!
"So I saved you, huh?" Your witty comment drawing a rare smile from Law's lips as he pulls you up against his chest, his hands sweetly stroking your back. For somebody who seems so cold and unapproachable, Law's a real sweetheart deep down.
"Well, your lack of culinary skills did." A chuckle escaping the doctor's lips as you pout. "I admit, I had a pretty bad temper when I was a kid, I held a lot of resentment towards the world."
"Hm...not much has changed then." A cheeky grin creeping to your lips when Law's brows furrow at your words, his grumpy face simply just melts your heart.
Why is he always so cute?
"Well, at least I'm not smashing your father's objects anymore." Your doctor smirking faintly as he steps away from you, his eyes leisurely scanning the room's decor, there's many photos of Whitebeard and the boys covering the walls. "Is there anything else you're curious about, [F/n]-ya?"
Actually...
"Yeah," You tug on Law's borrowed hoodie slightly to gain the man's attention again, your eyes staring up at his as you smugly grin to yourself. "When you implied to my father that you'll be my husband one day - was you saying that just to piss him off or do you really see a future with me?"
Your heart flutters when you notice Law's face turn pink, the handsome raven averting his gaze to the window as he hums thoughtfully.
"A bit of both." He finally admits, his face turning a deeper shade of red each second as his brows knit together. "I think we connect well enough to last for a long time...but I also wanted to annoy that bastard for calling me a dirty orphan."
Understandable.
Usually, you'd definitely think it's too early to even be considering marriage but it's not like he's literally proposing, just saying that he sees it as a possibility one day.
The thought of him being your groom makes you smile though, your arms wrapping around his torso and giving him a tight hug. "Well, it certainly annoyed him~!" The door opening behind you as Law returns the hug, you're admittedly expecting the worst - like your father coming in and yelling obscurities but instead you're greeted by a somewhat more welcomed voice.
"Oi! You two better not be getting down and dirty in here yoi! Pops just had the carpet steam-cleaned!"
It's nice to see you too, Marco...
