"five?" luther spoke, out of breath. "charlene?" he said, once more, worried about the two extremely old but young children.(?)

the tingly feeling of being phased quickly vanished, as me, charlene and the handler soon arrived at headquarters. the both of is looked around, noticing many differences from when we first came here, despite it not being that long.
the three of us walked up the stairs and stepped in, only to be met with more stairs. they spiralled up to the top of the building stopping occasionally at the room entrances. we stepped up and up, conversing with the handler. we walked past the briefcases and stopped to see all the managing departments. we soon arrived on the last step. "this where you two will be working." she spoke, motioning her hands toward the door. she moved aside, and we peered into the room. we saw two empty desks presumably for the two of us, waiting there. she led us in, and let us look around.
"who was the one who was managing the two of us?" i asked, curious about why in gods name they let me and charlene stay in the damned apocalypse for 45 years, if they could do something about it. the handler showed us to a quite chipper woman, sitting down near the back, typing. she looked up at us and gave a large smile. "oh, hello!" the woman said, as she saw us. "dot here was the one managing all apocalypse events." the handler said, motioning her hands to the woman. the both of us nodded. "no hard feelings, alright?" the woman said, smiling once more. i nodded again, trying to make my answer clear. the handler, once again led us to our seats and spoke. "i have 2 especially hard cases for you two." she said, smirking viciously.
she handed me a folder, filled with some papers sticking out. i opened it up, and and waiting for me was a file, containing the events that occured during the 1937 Hindenburg disaster. I looked up at her, unsure of what to do. she motioned her hands, telling me to start. i turned to charlene, her case seeming hard. she was doing the 1986 Chernobyl accident. she gave me a thumbs up, reassuring me. i started on my work, trying to make it look like i was concentrating. once a few people, including dot left for break, i turned to charlene and told her to come with me. ensuring noone was around, i stole a file from dots desk and shoved it under my dress shirt. me and charlene quickly jogged to the bathroom to try and read it. the both of us rushed into an unoccupied stall. we sighed a breath of relief as we sat on down on the toilet top.
about to pull out the file, we were interrupted. "hows your first day been?" someone from the next stall asked us. shit! "uh, its been good." i said, trying to figure out who it was. It was a feminine voice. dot? no, her voice is higher. i thought some more before figuring it out. the handler. i rubbed my temples in frustration and answered her small talk. she walked out of the stall, and i ushered charlene to crawl under and occupy the other stall. i shoved to her the file aswell, trying not to get caught. i heard the handler washing her hands before peeking up at the top of my stall. i gave a weak, fake smile. "would you like to have lunch with me?" she asked. "uh, sure." i responded, trying not to show my anxiety. i rushed out of the stall, and motioned to charlene to come out, trying not to show the handler. "uh, can charlene come?" i asked, her uneasy without charlene by my side. she turned, and nodded. i sighed a breath of relief, while charlene followed along.
we soon arrived at her office and we had some small talk before she showed us her 'toys.' we watched as she showed her grenades, her comfortable gun and other knick-knacks she owned. we finally sat, and she asked if we wanted candy. i tried to decline, a bit traumatized from that disgusting twinkie from the past. but she, insisted so i grabbed two and handed one to charlene. we opened up the wrapper and popped the candy into our mouths. we chewed some more as the odd flavor spilled into my mouth. "what does that taste like?" she asked. "the.. 1950s?" we both responded. the handler face brightened up. "yes! the scientist in our lab created a way to pack a single decade into one candy!" she said, unusually delighted.
"and these same people will be creating your new bodies!" we nodded, a bit intrigued at the thought of not being stuck in these childlike bodys anymore. ehe propped up onto the desk two long boxes. she motioned for us to open them. i opened up mine snd was greeted with a suit, grey and had my exact measurements. i marveled at the thought of wearing these again. i turned to charlene and saw her face light up at the light blue dress that she used to wear in the time and space department. we both looked up at the handler giving slight smiles.
