He's okay with it if you don't give him gifts. (He isn't materialistic)

what happened:

During Teacher's Day we had been sat down by sir, and he talked about many things. (which i may not discuss for privacy reasons) And one of them was it was okay if he wasn't given gifts.

He also told us, "Ang mga teacher na hindi tumatanggap ng mga regalo ay nabibilang sa kamay." (Teachers that don't accept gifts can be easily counted by the hand) But he stated that he appreciates the gifts that his students give him.
