Dazai woke up the next morning. The first thing he did was check on Chuuya, and sure enough there he was sleeping soundly. Dazai thought for a moment before deciding to cook them breakfast.
When Chuuya woke up, he did so slowly. When he had gotten out of bed, his mind wandered to last night and before that. His mood shifted from okay to one almost resembling a cold indifference. He didn't trust himself to not show all of his emotions on his face as soon as he sees Dazai. But he smells the food, and has a little thought that at least the other seems to be trying.
He went out after a little bit, fully clothed.
Dazai is humming a song as he cooks. It sounds similar to the song that they were working on before he “died”. He has yet to show any proof am that he's even aware of Chuuya's presence, which he actually is.
Chuuya feels that feeling stir in him, like they were working on that song all over again. He had almost completed that song in the two years that Dazai was gone.
However, instead of saying anything, Chuuya settled for loudly pulling a chair out in the next room over to sit down.
Dazai sighs at hearing the noise, but continues cooking. He was quiet for a while before he spoke. “So, do you wanna go on a date today? Or?”
“No.” He lied. That was a whole lot sharper in tone than he had intended. Chuuya hadn't even known he was that mad at Dazai for doing what he did. The smaller man would rather have gone and faked his death with Dazai. Akutagawa would have been explicitly told beforehand.
“Oh…” Dazai seemed a little let down at that answer, but went back to what he was doing. After the food was done, he sat it on the table before sitting down at the table himself. “Breakfast is done…”
Chuuya eventually joins him, though they eat in silence and Chuuya seems to have no commentary about the food. He's also avoiding eye contact with Dazai.
The silence is slowly eating at Dazai as he eats. Once he's done, he softly almost barely audibly mumbles, “I'm sorry.” After that he goes to wash the dishes.
..
As Dazai was doing that, Chuuya still doesn't look Dazai in the eyes. It doesn't take long before he gets up and goes back into his room with a sigh. He attempts to reorganize his emotions. He sits on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands. He's not crying or anything, but he was clearly frustrated.
Dazai turns on some music on as he attempts to clean up the house, but the depression was very evident as it was basically emitting from him at this point. .
At some point, Chuuya had picked up a notebook, finishing a new song.
It wasn't really new, however. It was the one that he and Dazai had started making. The tune was kept the exact same and the lyrics were molded to go with that.
Chuuya had started playing with the guitar as he sang it, just alone in his room. It would be loud enough to be heard if someone passed by his room, but not from down the hall.
