"Stop!" Hyunjin yelled, running towards Felix before having a few detectives push him back. He continued to claw and shove at them, trying to get to Felix, whose smile was long gone.

"Mr Hwang," Woojin grabbed his body and yanked him back with enough force to make Hyunjin crash into the wall before falling. "Calm yourself. I know you must be angry that he tried to kill your friend, but we have his punishment already sorted out. Relax."

"And how sure ware you that this fellow did it? How do you know he's the real murderer?" Seungmin asked, approaching Hyunjin to help him up.

Woojin glared at him.

"Are you questioning my expertise? I have my ways Junior Detective Kim and I'd expect you of all people to understand that. We did multiple tests and it all led back to him."

"Rubbish!" Hyunjin yelled, regaining his balance. "Utter rubbish!"

"Mr Hwang, I am the best in my field. I am not a Senior Detective for no reason. I find your words rather offensive especially for someone who helped finding such a murderer," Woojin tried to maintain his composure. "Junior Detective Kim, tell him."

Seungmin glanced at Woojin then to Hyunjin then Felix.

"Well?" Another Senior Detective, Minho asked, folding his arms over his chest. "Are you going to tell him or not? Or must I help him understand the situation-"

"I did it!" Hyunjin interrupted.

And once again the world stopped.

"I did it! I killed Jisung and all those people and I attempted to kill Liv. I take full responsibility. Imprison me. Sentence me. Not him. Felix was just taking the blame for me!" Hyunjin broke out into tearless sobs. "I did it!"

Woojin and Minho shared a look of fury while Lix, Seungmin and Maya shared one of worry and concern.

"Do you take me for a fool, Mr Hwang?" Woojin snapped. "I did all the research and evidence checks possible. Everything points to Mr Lee. I'm the best at my job-"

"No, you're not! If you can't tell that he's lying, then you don't deserve to be a Senior Detective. I can still feel all the victims' blood on my body. I still hear their screams and see their terrified faces. I remember it all. Punish me! I deserve it! I-"

"Mr Hwang," Minho calmed himself down and tried reasoning. "If we take you down for interrogation and do some research, will you let this go? Even if we find nothing?"

"No!" Felix screamed. "He's just taking the blame for me. Don't-"

"What are you doing, Lix? Why are you taking the blame? I did it! What must I do to get everyone to believe me? I killed them all! All sixteen of them! I did it!" Hyunjin cried.

"Jinnie, there's no need to lie. They know. They saw everything. I'll be alright. I'm still a minor, the longest they can sentence is seven years. I'll be alright."

"I killed them! I should be the one imprisoned."

"Don't lie. You'll make yourself seem guilty. I've already proved everything."

Momentarily, Lix gave Seungmin a look that clearly said to take Hyunjin out. If he continued pressing on, he'd actually get himself arrested. And not just him, both of them.

"Hyunjin," Seungmin held his shoulders. "You need to calm down. How about you and Maya go out for fresh air, huh?"

"No!" Woojin shouted. "Someone explain what the heck is happening. Now!"

Silence.

"Maya?" Minho's voice was more relaxed but filled with the need for truth. "Do you know anything?"

Everyone turned to her, half pleading for the truth, the other half craving for a lie.

She held a hand at her mouth, muttered "I think I'm going to throw up", then sprinted off.

"I should go check if she's alright," Seungmin offered but Woojin immediately stopped him.

"Leave, and I'll immediately fire you. Who did it, Junior Detective Kim? Which one killed them? This isn't a game, people have died to one of these boys' hands. Are you going to just keep quiet while you heard the souls of the deceased scream for justice?"

"But... Maya-"

"Senior Detective Lee, sort the girl out. Forget about her, Junior Detective Kim. Forget everyone else in this room. It's just you, me and the truth now. Speak!"

Seungmin glanced at Hyunjin then at Felix before sighing and running a hand through his dark locks.

"And if I don't?"

Woojin froze for a moment before he glared intensely at the younger detective, approaching him ever so slowly.

"Protecting a criminal and falling for someone you are meant to work with is already enough to fire you. But if you don't tell me the truth right now, I will regard you an accomplice and imprison you with both of these boys. You choose."

There's only about one or two chapters left so in the next couple of days I'll post the first chapter of the Woojin FF I teased in the last A/N.
