Chapter 31: When All Hell Broke Loose
We were all there helping the Stones move into their new gorgeous house. It was a huge two story house, the outside covered in bricks and windows. There were little bushes lining the drive way and the pathway to the door.
“Are we almost done?” Amber whined, once again slipping on the snow covered driveway. She caught herself in time, her hands clenching the lamp she held for dear life.
“Yes Amber,” My mother sighed, shaking her head in exasperation. “Now stop complaining.”
“Whatever,” She mumbled, rolling her eyes and walking through the front door. I carried Janie’s box through the front door and walked up the polished wooden stairs into her new room.
“Do you like the house Janie?” I asked, placing it down the floor.
“Of course I do!” She exclaimed, twirling around like it as Christmas day.
“That’s wonderful,” I grinned, leaving her to place her things around her room. She was going to paint it pink someday, she told me, but for right now she wanted to cover the vast plain white room with all her toys. I walked down the hall and into Dylan’s room, finding him splayed out on his bed, his hands beneath his head.
I quietly bounded over to the bed and sprung on top of him, his hands reflexively flying to catch me on his chest.
“What are you thinking about?” I whispered, resting my head on his chest.
“When I first moved into your house,” He spoke, running his fingers through my hair.
“That was horrible,” I spoke honestly, shaking my head with a smile on my face. “But I’m glad it happened, otherwise we wouldn’t be here.”
“You hated me so much,” He breathed a laugh, looking down at me.
“I truly did,” I squeezed his bicep and giggled.
“Good thing you don’t anymore.”
“No, I don’t… I love you now.”
“I love you more.”
I shook my head, biting on my lower lip. “I don’t think you can.”
“Yeah? Why not?”
“Because I love you more than words can explain.”
“Well I love you more than Romeo loved Juliet.”
I bursted out laughing, sitting up in his bed. “Where did you get that from?” There was no way he could have possibly gotten that on his own.
“English class,” He smiled impishly, a little red springing to his cheeks as he shrugged.
Only my boy.

The doorbell rang and Dylan and I sprang off the bed, getting ready to say hello to everyone who was showing up. It was a housewarming “get-together”, not exactly a party but not exactly a small gathering either. The first family to show up was Zach’s. After that, it was a river of families flowing in through the never closing door.
We were all spaced around the house, the parents in the kitchen talking and getting dinner ready, the teenagers in the basement, Joe and his friends in his room, and Janie’s friends all in her room. It was heartwarming to see so many different kinds of people and ages get together and have a great time.
