She was always there
There in the distance
As I venture closer,
She strays further away
Always just out of reachI can faintly see the outline
Of her slim figure
hidden in the shadows
I can hear a whisper of a giggle
floating through the summer air
I want her but I know
She's always out of reachThere under the willow tree
There a lady stands,
a man kneeling before her
Arm outstretched, ring sparkling in hand
But the man is not me
That was when I knew
She was forever out of reach.
