"Brunch?"
Spencer smiles and nods his head as he checks his phone for the umpteenth time and JJ nudges him with her elbow. Spencer looks away from his phone to look at JJ who is looking at him with a worried expression.
"Is everything alright? You've been checking your phone for a couple of times now, Spence." She points out; although it isn't rare for Spencer to be checking his phone a few times, he had done it so much, JJ is starting to worry.
Spencer furrows his eyebrows as the smile drops from his face. He glances at his phone once more before pocketing the device. "It's just that this morning I texted Y/N and she has yet to reply me and usually, no matter how busy she is, she normally replies my text messages: the last thing she said to me had been: new case, love you." Spencer pushes his hair behind his ear; as much as he tries not to be too worried about the lack of response from you, he really can't help it. "I'm just worried."
Before JJ could even respond to Spencer's statement, the loud pitter-pattering of Garcia's shoes. Spencer and JJ pause to wait for Garcia and as soon as Garcia appeared in their line of sights, Spencer didn't like the nervousness that suddenly appeared. Garcia stops directly in front of him.
"Hi, JJ." Garcia greets the other blonde quickly before turning back to look at Spencer. "I figured you haven't heard yet and I know you are probably going to get mad at me and Emily is probably going to have my hide as well, but I just couldn't help it - after everything that this family has been through, I had to keep track of everything and - "
"Garcia," JJ calls out, placing a hand on Garcia's arm and Garcia stops herself from talking, swallowing visibly. She blinks a couple of times, looking from Spencer to JJ. "You are rambling."
Garcia nods her head a few times, turning back to look at Spencer. "I was hanging out with Kristen earlier and she had to leave because a building blew up and - "
Spencer shakes his head, stepping towards Garcia. He already knows where this conversation is going, and he doesn't want to believe it. He doesn't want to believe that you had gotten yourself caught in the blast or worse, you had been in the building when that blast happened and Spencer doesn't realize this but his eyes start tearing up and his breathing quickens - he isn't ready to let you go; the last time he held you was almost a week ago when the entire team had to leave for a case and -
"Spence, breathe! Listen, Garcia said Y/N's alright. She's fine. Breathe, Spence. Breathe. Come on." JJ leads him to his table, pushing him down on his seat as Garcia trails after the two of them, looking at Spencer worriedly. "Come on, Spence."
Under JJ's orders, Spencer finally manages to even his breathing and he blinks a couple of times. "What happened, Garcia?"
Garcia takes out her phone, reading the text message she had received from her friend, Kristen. "Y/N was nearby when the first blast happened, but she wasn't super close and unfortunately, she had to get stitches right above her right eyebrow and oh."
Spencer looks up sharply at Garcia. Even JJ is looking at her, confusion and worried etched over her face. JJ has known you since the very beginning - Spencer confided in her a lot when it came to relationships and in particular, you - and hearing these words coming from Garcia are never easy and JJ places her hand on Spencer's shoulder, gripping it to reassure her little brother.
"What do you mean by 'oh'?"
Garcia blinks a couple of times as she looks away from her phone. She hurriedly makes a grab for the remote controller and changes the channel, surprising quite a few other agents and office workers who had been looking at the television. "Oh my God."
"Penelope, what is it?"
Garcia turns away from the television - written on the screen of the television, breaking news: summit evacuated due to bomb threat- and she points at the television weakly, blanching slightly at what she is about to say. "Y/N's there right now."
You sigh in relief, leaning against the car. The coolness of the metal and the air feels great on your flushed skin - there are still reporters around and the bomb squad had just recently drove away with the bomb you had recently diffused - and you can see your colleagues doing collateral damage.
Pushing yourself from the car, you make your way to the vehicle you had been driving with the intent of going back to the office and then driving back home. You briefly considered calling your boyfriend, but your phone's screen had cracked so bad, you know you need to get a new phone some time tomorrow.
"Y/N!"
Upon hearing your own name being called out, you paused and turned around, only to meet a vest that is very familiar (and often thrown on your sofa) and you had to blink a couple of times before looking up from the vest, meeting the eyes of a very worried Dr. Spencer Reid. "Spencer!" You reel back, surprised to see him.
"Don't ever do something like that ever again!" Spencer exclaims, pulling you flush against his chest as his arms wrap around your torso tightly. Your arms automatically went around his waist as you bury your face on his chest. You are confused as to how Spencer found you but at the same time, it feels really great to have his arms around you - Spencer had been gone for a case for almost a week and after the entire ordeal you went through today, it was a really nice surprise.
"Spencer," You pull back just so you can look at your boyfriend's face. The frown on his face deepens when his gaze lands on your stitches and you pull one of your hands back so that you can cup his face, making him stare at your eyes instead. "What are you doing here?"
Spencer shakes his head, leaning down so he can press his lips against yours softly. You sigh in to the kiss and wrap your arm around his neck; you probably should not even be doing this here, but it has been a while since you have seen him. He pulls back and gingerly touches the area where you got your stitches, causing you to flinch slightly because your head is still hurting and now that the adrenaline from all of the bomb chasing is washing away, you are suddenly very and extremely exhausted.
"I'm here to take you home." Spencer mutters and you lay your head against his chest, breathing in the scent that was just uniquely Spencer.
"I'm already home."
Spencer chuckles, pressing his lips on your hair. "How about we get you to the office first and then get something for you to eat before heading home?" Spencer pulls away from you, grabbing your keys from your pocket. "Sounds good?"
You grin at Spencer, heart heavy with love and you nod your head, touched by his actions. "Yeah, sounds good, Spence."
