Chapter 7

Sero and Kirishima looked at the petals sitting in Kaminaris palm in shock as they processed what they were looking at. Kirishima seemed confused, but then again, he never seen anyone, or even heard of anyone coughing up flower petals in his life. Sero on the other hand, was at a loss for words. He knew exactly what was going on but he wasn't expecting to witness a hanaki victim in real life himself. Especially if it's a close loved one.

Kaminari sat in silence as his two friends stood staring at his palm, silent and speechless. He wouldn't be lying if he said he was on edge about all of this, because he was. His whole body felt stiff but he didn't dare move and instead continued to wait.

"I don't understand." Kirishima finally said breaking the silence. Sero glanced at Kirishima, his eyes showing fear before turning back to Kaminari with his brows furrowed slightly. Kirishima was most definitely not going to like what he's about to find out.

Sero responded to Kirishima who was clearly unaware of their golden-haired friend's situation, "Kirishima... Kaminari.. He has-" "hanahaki disease." Kaminari cut in interrupting the raven haired boy.

Kirishima still looked confused at their response, wondering whether it was a bad thing or not but he had an idea based on how heavy the tension felt. Kaminari awkwardly shifted in his position pulling out his phone from his pocket and pulling up the article answering Kirishima's unanswered questions. He handed his red-haired friend his phone while Sero and him sat patiently in their current positions.

After what seemed like a while Kirishima looked up from the phone finally with an expression filled with fear and worry. A look of disbelief in his eyes was as clear as day- or night.

"Wait... so your lungs... are filling up with flowers? No... this has to be a joke right? This has to be some kind of cruel joke!" Kirishima said with a little bit of panic in his voice.

Kaminari shook his head clenching his hands into fists, the petals becoming less and less pretty as his hold tightened on them. Kirishima looked at Sero who was staring at the ground still trying to process what's happening as a thickly silence takes over the group.

Maybe this was a bad idea. Oh God, they're not taking this well. I shouldn't have done this. This is was a stupid idea. Kaminari panicked.

After a few moments, Kaminari looks up to meet his gaze with none other than Sero who spoke to him. "Have you considered telling her? This is about Jirou, right?" He asked breaking the silence. Kaminari hesitated before responding, surprised to see they're kind of staying composed. "Of course I did, but did you forget about the part where this illness is born from unrequited love?" He asked, a little bit harsher than expected. Kirishima cut in soon after catching both boys attention, "well you should still try! Haven't you ever thought that she might end up liking you back!?"

Kaminari stood up from where he was sitting fast and walked up to meet face to face with Kirishima. "Why would she like someone like me?! It's obvious she doesn't like me. She just likes to tease, and laugh, and make fun of me! Where is the romance!?" He snapped back, mimicking Kirishima's tone of voice.

Kirishima was just about to say something else in retort to his outburst until Sero got between the two of them. "Guys! Fighting isn't going to solve anything. I hate to say this Kaminari, but I'm going to have to agree with Kirishima." The raven haired boy admitted as he split them up.

All three boys got quiet shortly after again, only the sound of the gentle breeze could be heard now, and all of them spaced out due to how close they were currently. They all realized they needed to calm down before things escalated and corrupted their friendship over a serious situation the golden-haired boy was going through.
