It had been about two days since Khole had found the dead body and she was doing a lot better.
That day when she arrived home, her parents weren't there, so she just took some time to relax and decompress with Goby. Khole didn't want to think about what had happened that day, so distracting herself seemed like the way to go. She didn't bother with any of her homework, because that was going to be too much effort, and ended up just lounging on the couch. She snuggled with her dog and watched a lot of TV.
Of course though, when her parents did arrive home from work, they instantly bombarded her with concern and questions. The school had called them while they were still at the hospital to inform them of what had happened and what Khole and everyone else on the cross-country team had seen. The Tyler's had wanted to go to their daughter, but because Khole didn't leave school early they felt okay enough to finish the shift before going to her. They trusted their daughter's judgment and thought it best to not go to the school and possibly embarrass her.
Once all that worrying over their daughter was over... well not really over, just pushed to the side, Khole, her parents, and their dog all stayed in the living room together watching Khole's favorite movie to cheer her up.
Her parent's concern and ability to make her feel better lifted her mood significantly. She had been worried that she was not going to be able to sleep that night, but when Khole woke up the next day without any nightmares from the incident, she was very surprised and happy.
...
That next day at school was surprisingly calm for the day after a bunch of teenagers found the body of their classmate in the woods, and nothing big happened. Well, nothing big like what had occurred the day before. Something 'big' in the way of making friends did, as she and Jen exchanged numbers and hung out a bit more. But, again, nothing like finding a dead body or having a classmate drive his bike into the halls occurred. It was just a normal school day. Khole also couldn't help but think that it was even more normal because Scott and his group of friends weren't there. She was thankful for that though, as she wasn't subjected to them staring at her or making her worried over the fact that they might be suspicious about her secret supernatural-ness.
One other thing that lifted her mood was the fact that the next day the cross-country team was going to an away meet and they'd all be missing the whole day of school due to the long bus drive. Back in Hawaii, Khole always had the best time at cross-country meets, so she couldn't help but feel excited for her first one here in Beacon Hills.
So, as soon as Khole got home that night she packed anything she might need for the meet. She even packed a change of clothes just in case she got too dirty from running. Not only that but she made sure to pack money, her phone charger, some headphones, and a book so that she wouldn't get bored on the ride over. She was very prepared for the journey and was excited to head off. She was a little less excited when the next day, right as she was getting on the bus, she found out that Jen, unfortunately, wouldn't be able to go. Khole was most likely going to have to sit alone as Jen's parents didn't sign the permission slip.
