It had been a few days since the failed cross-country meet and Khole's horrible stay at the Motel Glen Capri. She had spent that bus ride feeling the on-and-off stares of Scott McCall and his friends, but since then, nothing happened. Khole had thought that McCall or one of his friends would have come up to her to say something. But they never did. Sure, Khole would sometimes catch one of them staring at her during class or in the hallways, but no one ever said anything to her. So, she took that as a good sign and decided to not do anything as she, at the moment, doesn't want to be involved with whatever they are involved in. She wants her secret to be kept for as long as possible.

Those next couple of days, Khole and Jen hung out some more and Khole was very happy with the fact that she was beginning to become better friends with her. The two would talk during school and sometimes after school. Jen had originally asked about the cross-country meet, and Khole did tell her about it, just not all the suicide trance stuff.

Then, Khole remembered something. When she first arrived in Beacon Hills, she made an appointment for Goby at the vet clinic. And that day has finally arrived.

...

That day, after school, Khole was preparing to take her German Shepherd to the vet for his check-up. The first time Goby had been there he seemed to be ok, so Khole wasn't too worried about Goby freaking out. Besides, the only time he's ever freaked out at the vet was when there was this nurse who didn't know what she was doing and stepped on his tail. That hadn't been a fun day for everyone, but Dr Deaton seemed a lot more competent than that woman.

Now, since Khole's finished with her homework and everything else she needs to finish for herself before bringing Goby, the only thing she has left is to feed him. As normal, Khole prepared a bowl of kibble for him and set it out with some water. But unlike normal, Goby took one sniff and refused to eat any of it. Worried and confused over the fact that Goby isn't eating,

Khole kneels next to him, which causes him to sit in her arms, and she runs her fingers through his fur, "What's wrong Goby? It isn't like you to not eat anything." Khole takes his cute little face into her hands and rubs behind his ear. She makes a face and decides to investigate. So, she lets go of her dog and grabs the kibble bowl off the floor to take a closer look. There's something strange about the kibble... Khole pushes a few pieces out of the way plucks out a small white ball, about the size of a pea, and holds it up to her face in confusion. She has no idea what this stuff is, and soon she realizes that there are more of these little white balls in her dog's food. Shaking her head, Khole stands and dumps the kibble into the trash. She puts the bowl on the counter and goes to check the bag in the closet. Once she gets her hands on the bag of kibble and digs through it, she sees that the whole bag has been infested with these little white balls.

Disgusted with the thought of an animal or something getting into her dog's food, Khole throws the whole bag of dog food away, cleans up any spilled balls, and opens a brand new one. Thankfully this bag doesn't have anything it's not supposed to in it.
