The ever-cold walls of the Revolutionary Army's base held you in a persistently tight and freezing hug. No amount of piled up layers could capture enough warmth for your liking. Left alone to deal with the ill temperature, you had essentially become a walking popsicle. How anyone could get any work done in these conditions left you consistently baffled.

"S-So cold," your teeth subconsciously refused to cease chattering, loudly echoing in the empty corridor. With most caught up in expanding missions, the place appeared lonelier than usual.

Missing a particular blond, caught up in a mission for the past nine days and counting, you passed his shut door for the second time. Subconsciously walking in circles just to briefly pass by his bedroom, you needed to find a better hobby-- as soon as possible.

You shouldn't bother him. Likely much too busy for your call, you hesitated to give him a spontaneous ring. Fighting with yourself around the options, you slowly put away the dressed transponder snail marked with his personal crossed insignia.

"[Name]? What's wrong?" A second soul suddenly asked. Hearing your sighs and witnessing your apathetic slouch, the question with concern raised once again.

Focusing on the plain white tile decorating the flooring, you didn't bother to look up. Kicking around a few dust bunnies sloppily to the side, more groans of distress spurred as you tried to gather a few coherent words.

"Nothing, I'm okay," despite trying your best to reassure, your voice easily gave away your true feelings.

Not giving a second conscious thought to the owner, you repeated as the question was asked again. "I'm fine, I'll talk to you later, okay?" Keeping your head apathetically low, you began to walk away. Towards the direction of your nearby room, your hand weakly raised to wave away the one left behind.

"Bye, Sabo."

Saddened steps continuing to carry you away abruptly paused as you had finally placed a face to the voice.

Rushing up to you, his arm laid over your shoulders cupping you in an immediate flush of overwhelming warmth. Chuckling to your nervous fluster, you tried to calm from his smile beamed down brightly at you.

"W-What are you doing here?" You rhetorically asked as you looked him over carefully making sure it wasn't a mere illusion built up by your own mind. "When did you get back?" Swallowing the lump in your throat, your smile couldn't help but mold into his.

Shivering like a frail leaf in his arms, he gently placed his long midnight coat upon your shoulders. "Not too long ago," he calmly responded, omitting his drawn-out search for you.

Relaxing your tense shoulders in his coat, you threatened to overheat.

"Are you busy? Come inside," before hearing your response, he urged your inside of his room.

A warm cup of cocoa, wrapped tightly in his blankets, and his infectious laughter rapidly helped you forget about your once stuck woes.

Ever animated, the recollection of his previous mission had you in shock. His bold actions causing your head to shake, you tried to hide the smile permanently drawn upon your lips.

"You're so reckless," you chuckled as he gave you a slight nudge to your reaction. Giving him a soft push back, you fed into his filling laugher the once silence of the room.

Watching your closed-eyed laughter, he couldn't help but agree with a nod to his head. Willingly putting himself first into dangerous situations, he couldn't possibly say no. Despite his usual rough actions, he made a specific note to come back safe each time. Safely besides you to enjoy your laughter another day.

Slowing down his end, the tone of his voice grew more serious. "If I was, I would have kissed you right now." Eyes drawn towards you; he rested his head against the cold stone wall as he nonchalantly spoke.

You paused as his floated words pointed towards you all of a sudden. Spoken so calmly, you needed to question if you had heard correctly.

"W-What?!" You exclaimed in an airy gasp mixed with all the confusion in the word. Swallowing the taken sip, you began to cough; panic as the drink caught in your throat.

"[Name]?!" Sabo quickly jumped up, taking possession of the mug before you could further spill the warm chocolate upon yourself. Patting gently upon your back, he leaned into the close proximity.

"Are you okay?" He worryingly asked as your features erupted in a rosy hue.

You initially hesitated, his face so close you could feel each one of his troubled breaths. "I-I'm okay," you softly whispered as you tried to swallow your beating nerves.

He slowly pulled back, tucking his face away before you could see the change in his pale cheeks. "Sorry," he nervously whispered back as he tried to slip out of his bed as cautiously as possible. Trying to act as he had never said a thing, his nervous laughter couldn't be kept at bay.

"I-I'll be right back," he forced out as cleanly as possible as he gripped the handle of your mug tighter.

Your heart raced faster as you watched him leave; the tips of his crimson lit ears peeking from his blond locks. Quickly gathering the courage, you jolted forward unraveling from the pile of blankets. "W-Wait!" You caught his sleeve just in time preventing his next step out.

Pulling him in, you placed a peck on the corner of his lips before snatching the mug. Leaning into the burrow of blankets, you used the mug to cover part of your equally bright face.

"I wasn't finished yet."
