the signs of war

As soon as the words that escaped rich's mouth reached the ears of Marlum and Lola, they both jumped back at what he just said

"what?! War is coming? How and why?" Marlum shouted

"I dunno" Rich said with worry in his eyes

"we should get more information before telling the people in our vilage" h continued looking down at the note he held In his hand

Lola put back her bow and walked up to Marlum and rich

"He is right marlum" lola said as she looked at rich while standing beside Marlum

Marlum nodded slowly and looked back at rich

"What should we do" Marlum said "let's look around in the forest for any sign of war if they had scouted us out before they would attack" Rich said as he let the note go and walked forward in front of the group

They both followed him through the trees, they eventually saw a clearing with tents and a campfire that had been doused with water so it was abandoned

Rich walked towards the camp and the others followed"we should search the tents" said rich, Marlum and Lola nodded and they both walked into separate tents to start searching for anything

Suddenly rich called "guys, I think you might want to see this" Marlum and Lola came out to see a wide piece of paper in rich's hands, Marlum looked at it and saw that it was a map of voldenhome and the woods surrounding it, only that there were crosses scattered around the forest in such a way that it surrounded voldenhome

A sudden feeling of realisation washed over Marlum as he looked around and saw that they were at one of the crosses, he thought that these must have been camps to scout the village

"Guys, let's head home" Marlum shouted wide eyed and ran into the forest in the direction of voldenhome, the other two followed

Once they got to the clearing that led to the forest and over the fence they saw that the huts and houses were being burnt and people were being loaded into a barred steel cage with handcuffs on

Marlum saw that the men of the village were being slaughtered and a sudden emotion of sadness and pure anger washed over him as his eyes stopped at his father and a part of reynar's army who kneeled his father down and cut his head off

Marlum's eyes went red with anger and then turned white as he unsheathed his sword which was giving out a shiny golden glow as he took a step forward and slashed at the person that had killed his father and suddenly a giant white slash covered the sky with a deafening slashing sound

Marlum had killed everybody in the village except for the ones in the cage which had been sliced open and they were free, rich watched as Marlum collapsed onto the ground

Lola and rich ran towards Marlum while rich took a moment to get to Marlum's body laying on the ground, his eyes were wide open and his pupils were nowhere to be seen.
