God in everything

She puts Him in the center
of her life,
to the break of dawn
until the flicker of the bulb ceases.
Yet she remembers to put
God in all things,

her being,
her beholders,
her lovers,
her shoulders,
of her thoughts good and bad
joys and woes;
her Listener
of her quiet prayers
muttered confessions
loudest sufferings;
the Viewer
of her sacrifices
her secret virtues

God in everything.

Marie fading in her mind
already, her late husband, too.
Though she spies her wounds
from across the courtyard -
the very same lane they've walked
before
She sees the tombstones, uncleaned,
the workers' final days sweeping,
and
the church more
desolate than ever before.

God in everything.

His sufferings, His sacrifices
hanging with His head high
to the sky;
She sees Him there
and there's nothing
she can do
but remember He gives
and takes away,
in her heart and head
and within each stare
she falls more in love
with Him each time.

God in everything.
