If you asked me to count each speck of sand,
To show my love for you and only you;
To earn a chance to touch your tender hand;
To live my life with you, honest and true...
I would. I'd count until the brink of day.
And in the night, I'd look upon the stars,
While I wish away, and send them your way.
And, in my heart, I'd hope you're not too far.
The waves—mighty and proud—come crashing down,
Trickling along the sand next to my feet.
Night birds—above the ground—sing songs aloud:
"La-la-ling!" like the dreams in which we meet.
Counting sand has taken me a lifetime.
But there's no time, when you're not on my mind.
