YouTube is a popular video sharing network and has been since Valentine's Day of 2005 (14th February). It was founded by three people- Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. It was independent through 2005 & 2006, but was parented by Google in 2007 and still is now.
The only official YouTube website is youtube.com. Registration is optional but if you have a Google account then you don't need to sign up- you'll already have one.
YouTube has produced several well-know vlog stars, such as Zoe Sugg (AKA Zoella) and danisnotonfire (Dan Howell).
