Ok I know I need to stop making so many fanficitons at once when I already have.. 4 huge ones I'm writing, but I've had this idea in my head all day and I just gotta share it.
So many people love marina, but I feel like it's mainly for her looks. Pe...
Marina hurriedly finished scribbling the crayon over her drawing. It was difficult to make pictures with such stubby hands. Cod she couldn't wait till she was 14, since then she'd have full control of a humanoid form. What did fingers feel like? Are they hard to get used to? Marina couldn't help but smile as she remember when her friend Austin had taped tiny thin scraps of metal to his stubby red hand, being a show off as usual as every octoling in their care group gaped at him picking things up. Even marina was impressed by him, which was hard to come by from that showboat friend of hers. It was functional until the metal dug into him after getting stuck on a fence. His hand was currently still bandaged up from the infected wound, since the metal was rust covered at the edges. Though Austin had seen it as a battle scar to show every octoling and Octarian. New octarians constantly were coming, since they're king always was having soldiers shave they're tentacles to reproduce new octolings and octarians. Marina payed attention to this stuff, unlike her other friends in the group. After all, no Octarian had family to teach them this stuff. Not even siblings were important, because if you had one, you were immediately separated to avoid distractions. So it was up to their care groups that watched over them till they were old enough to be thrown into the military. Marina though, wanted a head start. She wanted to change the world. She wanted to be important. So she read every book she could find, even borrowing some from their caretaker Mrs. Summers, a purple haired octoling with bright red eyes. It was rare to see an adult otoling's eyes, since almost all adult octolings were soldiers or scientists, wearing metal plated goggles. Only caretakers we're allowed complete free will. Marina wanted to assist the army anyway she could. That was what lead to her current idea. Austin's fingers had made her think of a design for special gloves made of metal, Incase an octoling soldier lost a weapon. That way she could easily fist fight. The drawing was done, with scrappy labels on different parts. The young octoling stuffed the drawing into her cubby, where personal belongings were kept. Most of the octolings in her group had none, except for drawings and stuff they found that adults allowed them to keep. Marina never got why her friends liked collecting stuff. What was the point? To just have it? What purpose did that serve? How was that going to assist their king with taking the surface back? Marina's drawings were useful in her eyes with a purpose to serve. She made her way to the kitchen area of the large house as she adjusted her glasses. Hopefully in the future I can get contacts like Mrs summers. Two wooden tables were set up, with octarians and octolings sitting at them eating the daily rations they were given. Marina grabbed a styrofoam tray from the stack, and Mrs. Summers put her food inside: 3 slices of bread, half a carrot, 2 apple slices, and a cup of probably slightly polluted water. She only nodded at her caretaker's smile, moving to the table to sit with her friend group. Each care group in the Octarian society had a total of 11 octolings and octarians spending the day together. Marina had bonded with a group of 4 others. The octoling Austin she thought of earlier, a rather quiet and shy female octoling named terra, an octo copter name cloud (ironic since they had none of those underground) and a twintacle octotrooper named Brian. They were an odd group, but they were friends and that's what mattered to marina. She sat at the table, waving as the four gave her a greeting. Apparently Austin was rambling about something, because after she sat down he continued, his white bandages over his hand now slightly stained a darker color from his water. How do we even survive drinking that? "Ok, so back to the story, stain was all like "you really think you can be anything? Hah! I'm the big bad kid around here!" Marina rolled her eyes at the last part. "What he said was probably more sophisticated then that knowing stain." She mumbled. Terra silently nodded, and Austin huffed. "Well I can't remember every detail marina!" He continued on, Brian and cloud watching with interest. "So I was like "I'll make you eat those words!" And then I punched him in the gut! And then he was like "why you little" but he didn't finish cus he knows we're not aloud to curse yet, and then he punched me in the face! And.." Austin held out his uninjured palm, a shiny white fang inside. Cloud let out a gasp, and Austin gave a toothless smile. "Austin is that yours?!" The octocopter asked, his voice a mixture of awe and fear. Austin nodded, moving his single tentacle out of his face slightly. "Yep. Though stain lost two teeth cus of me. I'm in huge trouble and I have cleanup duty for two weeks, but it was cool cus I have this scar!" Austin proceeded to point to a slightly noticeable scar on his cheek. "Whoa. Dude your so cool." Brian whispered, yellow eyes shining. Marina gave a half smirk. "More like reckless." Austin narrowed his eyes at her, but then laughed it off. "Yeah, maybe I am. But all the soldiers are." Terra had a doubtful look on her face. "But Umm.. they don't let boys into the army Austin.. only girls.." the red haired octoling scoffed. "well they haven't seen a boy like me! I'll prove myself, and it'll be amazing! And I'll be the one leading the first invasion to the surface! With.." he pointed at marina, and she only stared at his pale finger. "Marina's inventions on my side.." the he pointed at terra. "Terra's loyalty.." then at cloud. "Clouds great aim," and finally at Brian. "And Brian's strength. We're bound to take back our turf!" Marina couldn't help but smile as she sipped her water, ignoring the burning sensation in her throat as she did so. That.. sounded like a good future. Just the five of them and the world against inkopolis.
What could go wrong?
(Authors note: hey! I hope you guys liked this first chapter. I mainly wanted to use it to introduce our main cast, so sorry if it's boring. The rest won't be, just give the book a few chapters to get the main plot going. Also I hope you don't mind the little headcannon that younger Marina always wore glasses ^w^ I also did little doodles of everyone so you can know what they look like! I based designs of marina terra and Austin off the official art of young octolings

I'm gonna wait to upload chapter 2 until I see how much attention this story is getting and if people actually want me to continue. If it gets to 15 views or 2 votes or someone outright says they like the story and want it to continue, I'll go ahead and make chapter 2. Till then have a great night/day y'all!
