Marina hadn't been in an actual decent looking house since her care group. Compared to the state that place was in though, this simple house the cuttlefish lived in was practically heaven. After the small little argument between the four, Marie had went with pearl to set up what was the 'guest bedroom', while Callie stayed with marina, the engineer watching her set up a few blankets and pillows on the couch. Marina was appreciative she didn't try to pry or talk to her while Callie set up where she'd been sleeping, the only noise escaping the cuttlefish was a soft humming as marina listened with interest. Eventually, Callie did ask one question though.
"So.. what's in the backpack?"
Marina froze a bit, debating on whether she should tell or not. Then again, she didn't want to seem suspicious to someone who's job was to fight her kind. "J.. Just a computer a friend gave me.. and a locket and some headphones, also from some friends." Callie nodded with a small smile. "What were your friends like? If you don't mind me asking." Her eyes didn't leave the couch. Marina gave a soft smile, leaning against the wall. "They were nice.. and kind. One kind of grew distant from me though. I honestly haven't seen them in months. I think that's how long it's been at least. I lost track of time." Callie nodded again, her smile fading. She turned to glance at marina for a few seconds. "Come on, me and marie wanna ask you a few questions. It's just questions though! Meant to get to know you a bit, so let me know if your getting uncomfortable, ok?" Marina nodded silently, shakily taking Callie's hand as she offered it, the cuttlefish leading her away to the hallway rather quickly. Marina was led into a room with pink walls. There was a bed in the corner, the blanket on the bed was pink too, the pillow a pastel pink. Dozens of posters with logos and creatures marina had never seen before littered the wall. There were things marina recognized as plushies covering the bed, as well as a desk against the wall with a pastel pink lamp and a few framed photos of her and marie. Shelves were nearby with more photos and items marina didn't know, and a closet stood in the other corner, also pink.
Needless to say it was the.. pinkest, room marina had ever seen.
Callie patted next to the edge of her bed, marina taking a seat next to her reluctantly. After marina sat down, Callie stood back up. "Wait here, I'll be right back!" The cuttlefish ran out of the room, and before marina could take a moment to properly look around, Callie came back into the room, Marie behind her.
She didn't like how marie had closed the door shut behind her, but chose not to say anything.
"Alright, we just wanna ask you some questions marina. I promise, that's all." Marina slowly nodded, Inching backwards slightly. Marie had her eyes narrowed slightly. "Why aren't you trying to attack anyone? We're all your enemies. Yet it's you who seems terrified." Marina blinked, taking a moment to process the question. "When you two sung that song with the battle against agent 3, my goggles broke. I'm not under my king's control anymore. I apologize for all the harm my inventions probably had on your agent 3." Callie gave a confused expression before quickly translating to Marie. "She says when we sung The inkantation, it broke her control away from her king? She's also sorry for hurting 3 with her inventions." Marie shared the confused look now. "King's control..?"
"The goggles play music in our mind on loop our king makes. It puts us under his orders he has for us. I.. I didn't have any thoughts for a long time.. I just made machinery every single day.. I couldn't feel anything when I was loosing my friends and world around me, I.. I.."
Marina sniffled, bringing her knees to her chest and hugging them. For once, marina saw a confused yet sympathetic look on Marie's face. Callie took a step towards marina. "Are you o-"
"I d-don't want to a-answer anymore q-questions n-now.."
Callie nodded, taking a step back. The two cousins shared confused concerned looks, Callie lowering her voice to a low whisper to translate as marina buried her face in her knees, sniffling again and fighting back tears. Footsteps echoed in the background and faded, and eventually marina could hear the footsteps returning, and it sounded like there was a third pair now.
