Electivire: Thunder Punch, Thunder, Ice Punch, Dynamic Punch.
Aggron: Head Smash, Iron Head, Earthquake, Aqua Tail.
Initially, Paul had planned to challenge the Icirrus City gym. However, the gym leader, Brycen, being a movie star who initially had quit his job, had decided to retake his job again and is currently taking part of a shooting for another new movie. Paul was advised by Nurse Joy from the Icirrus Pokemon Centre that he should continue east towards Opelucid City to challenge Drayden.
After a long day of travelling, it was late afternoon by the time Paul had arrived in Opelucid City, so he decided to leave his Pokemon to Nurse Joy for recovery while he booked a cabin to stay overnight.
The next morning, he had a quick breakfast, retrieved his Pokemon from Nurse Joy and walked towards the gym, to be greeted by a figure wearing attire that was mostly white and a white mask that only covered his mouth as well as having white hair.
"Greetings, young man. My name is Drayden, the gym leader of Opelucid City. I presume you are here for a gym battle?" asked Drayden.
"That's right. When are you available?" inquired Paul.
"I'm available now, actually. Follow me," said Drayden as he led Paul to the battlefield.
"Also what is your name?" added Drayden.
"Paul," replied the purple-haired trainer.
"This will be an official 3 VS 3 gym battle between the gym leader Drayden and the challenger Paul. Only the challenger is allowed to substitute his Pokemon and the battle will be over when all of either side's Pokemon are unable to battle. Can all sides please send out their first Pokemon," requested the referee.
"Druddigon. You're up first," said Drayden as the Cave Pokemon appeared on the battlefield.
"Ursaring. Standby for battle," said Paul as the Hibernator Pokemon appeared on the battlefield.
"Battle begin," said the referee.
"Ursaring, start off with Bulk Up," said Paul as the Hibernator Pokemon's body became surrounded with a red beam of aura, increasing its attack and defense.
"Druddigon, fire away with Gunk Shot," commanded Drayden as the Cave Pokemon produced a large chunk of garbage covered in poison at Ursaring, scoring a direct hit, inflicting a lot of damage and additionally poisoning the Hibernator Pokemon.
Once getting poisoned, another red beam of aura began to surround Ursaring, boosting its attack once more.
"Must be Ursaring's ability, Guts, which increases its attack when poisoned, burned or paralysed. However, while being poisoned, it still continues to take damage from the poison as it continues to battle until fainting," Drayden thought to himself. "Alright, use Dragon Claw," ordered Drayden as Drayden's claws began to glow light blue and aim a blow at Ursaring.
"Use Slash," said Paul as Ursaring's claws began to glow bright white and counter towards the incoming Dragon Claw. Due to the effects of Bulk Up and Guts, it managed to overpower the Dragon Claw and inflict heavy damage on Druddigon and knocking it backwards.
"Use Revenge," ordered Drayden as Drudiggon began to gather all of its damage it took whilst its body began to become surrounded with an orange beam of aura. Instantaneously, it began to head towards Ursaring and land a strike.
"Use Slash once more," said Paul, however, due to the poisoning, it had faltered and began to slow down and eventually became unable to move. As a result, it was hit by the Revenge attack and took heavy damage.
"This is harder than I thought. Finish this with Play Rough," ordered Paul as Ursaring began to charge towards Drudiggon.
"Use Revenge once more," commanded Drayden as Druddigon began to gather up energy once more while its body became surrounded with an orange aura and began to strike Ursaring.
Both moves collided with each other, causing a powerful explosion that damage both Pokemon as well as knocking them out.
"Both Pokemon are unable to battle. Can both sides please send out their next Pokemon?" requested the referee.
"Take a good rest, Druddigon. Thanks for doing your best," said Drayden as the Cave Pokemon was recalled into its PokeBall. "Flygon, you're up next," he said as the Mystic Pokemon appeared flying into the battlefield.
"Return Ursaring. Electivire, standby for battle," said Paul as he returned the Hibernator Pokemon and took out the Thunderbolt Pokemon into the battlefield, surprising Drayden.
"He deliberately sent out a Pokemon with a major type disadvantage. I wonder how he will get through this battle," thought Drayden to himself.
"Battle begin," said the referee.
"Flygon, use Fire Punch," ordered Drayden as the Mystic Pokemon's claws began to form a fist that became surrounded with fire towards Electivire.
"Dodge it and use Dynamic Punch," commanded Paul as Electivire dodged the attack while one of its arms glowed white and scored a direct hit on on Flygon.
"Interesting. But let's see how you handle this one. Use Earthquake," ordered Drayden, but due to the fact that Dynamic Punch always confuses the target when hit, Flygon was confused and could not hear its trainer's command.
"Finish this off with Ice Punch. And use both hands to double the effect," ordered Paul as both of Electivire's hands glowed light blue and scored another set of direct hits on Flygon. Due to Flygon having a 4 times weakness to Ice Types and taking two direct hits, it could not withstand the attack and fainted in the process.
"Flygon is unable to battle. Electivire wins," said the referee.
"Impressive," Drayden thought to himself as he recalled Flygon back into its PokeBall. "Haxorus, I'm counting on you," he said as the Axe Jaw Pokemon appeared into the battlefield.
"Electivire return. Aggron, standby for battle," said Paul as he returned the Thunderbolt Pokemon back into its PokeBall and sent out the Iron Armor Pokemon into the battlefield.
"Battle begin," said the referee.
"Haxorus, start off with Earthquake," ordered Drayden as the Axe Jaw Pokemon jumped up and slammed itself on the ground, creating a powerful tremor that went towards Aggron.
"Aggron, you do the same too," said Paul as Aggron imitated the movements of Haxorus.
Once both Pokemon did the exact same movements, the tremors caused by both Pokemon began to cancel out each other, creating an explosion that damaged both Pokemon.
"Use Brick Break," ordered Drayden as one of Haxorus' claws began to glow white and strike both Pokemon.
"Counter with Iron Head," ordered Paul as Aggron charged forward while its head glowed silvery-white.
Both moves collided with each other, with neither side giving way to the other side.
"Strike with your other claw," ordered Drayden as Haxorus did so and scored a direct hit on Aggron, inflicting serious damage on the latter being vulnerable to Fighting type attacks.
"Guess I have to resort to this," Paul thought to himself as Aggron recovered from the attack. "Use Head Smash," ordered the purple-haired trainer as the Iron Armor Pokemon's head began to glow blue and aim towards Haxorus.
"Finish it off by using Brick Break once more," commanded Drayden as both of Haxorus's claws began to glow white and aimed towards the incoming Aggron.
However, due to the destructive nature of Head Smash, Aggron's attack managed to eventually overpower the attack while taking some more damage from Brick Break while managing to physically smash Haxorus with its head and creating a powerful explosion that broke out, covering the entire battlefield.
About a minute later, the explosion and the dust clouds had cleared up, revealing that both Pokemon had fainted.
"Both Pokemon are unable to battle. Due to Drayden having no Pokemon left to battle while Paul has his Electivire remaining, the winner is the challenger Paul," declared the referee.
"Well done, Aggron. Take a good rest," said Paul as he returned the Iron Armor Pokemon back into its PokeBall.
"You too, Haxorus," said Drayden as the Axe Jaw Pokemon was recalled into its PokeBall.
"Well done, Paul. I'm really impressed at your Pokemon's strength as well as your battling skills. As proof of victory, here is the Legend Badge," said Drayden as he gave the Paul the badge.
"Thanks Drayden," said Paul as he accepted the gym badge.
"The next gym is located in Humilau City. However, it is a quite a long distance from here," advised Drayden.
"Not to worry. I have a map to help navigate my way through," replied Paul.
"Well then, good luck when challenging your last Unova Gym Battle," said Drayden.
"Thank you once again, Drayden," said Paul as he gave a bow to the gym leader and made his way out of the gym and to the Pokemon Centre.
