MARY LAKE

"Honey, we understand that you like keeping things to yourself but not when your life is in danger. You should have told us about it" My mum said staring at me as she sat on the cushion. I loved that cushion. It was a blue cushion that has the painting of a beautiful lake. I claimed it as mine and shouted at everyone who sat on it. It makes you feel as if you are sitting on the lake.

My dad ran his hands through his hair as he went through the school yearbook. I didn't know what he was searching for but he did look stressed.

I grew a little bit angry that I was stressing them. I didn't want them to find out but the school had called them and told them about the rat incident. Maybe, it was better that they know.

After I saw the dead rats, I was sent to the school clinic for a check-up. What for? I don't know. Probably brain damaged or something but they only gave me a pain reliever. One thing I hated about Montana High School. No medical facilities or is it the equipment?

The principal thought I was the one who did it. Thank God I had a clean record and I wasn't one for pranks, he wouldn't have believed me when I told him it wasn't me.

Turned out the person who shouted before I lost conscious was Tom. He was also the one who carried me to the clinic after I fainted. My hero.

I wished I could faint during maths class so I could miss the class, I always tried to but it never worked out. Good to know I could faint after seen a rat. Maybe the person would throw rats into the class during maths......

"Are you even here?" My mum who was staring at me as if I was a broken toy asked.

"Y-yes I a-am m-mom. I a-am s-sorry I d-didn't t-tell y-you I j-just d-didn't w-want y-you t-to g-get w-worried" I said picking on my fingers. Trying to look less guilty.

My mom hugged me when she saw the tears on my face. I was a sensitive kid. The mere thought that they were angry got me worked up.

"Mary, you know we love you right?" My dad asked stopping what he was doing to look at me.

Smiling at him, I nodded and they both smiled.

"Why is Mrs Cook taking so long to make the concoction?" My mom stood up to go to the kitchen.

"C-concoction? M-mom!!!? I groaned. My mom was one of those mothers that spend money on herbal drugs. I hated the bitter taste and the fact that it always as in always made me vomit.

My mom rolled her eyes at me, ignoring my pouting face.

"You are taking it. No argument" she said making me looked at dad.

"Well......she.....ummm...said you are taking it. I mean you mom said you must take it"My dad said smiling at mom and he went back to staring at the yearbook. I knew he was trying to ignore my gaze.

"W-whipped" I murmured as mom laughed and went into the kitchen.

"Sorry dear, I hate that herbal stuff too but you know me and your mom is trying for another baby and if I didn't agree she may end up changing her mind....." My dad rambled.

Wait a minute, did he forget I am his daughter?

"D-dad!!!" I asked gaping at him more like giving him the disgusted face.

"What...." He stopped when he saw my face.

"Sorry, too much information" he laughed clearly embarrassed.

"Hmmm... I need to check something in my room" he said and rushed out of the sitting room.

Giggling to myself, I picked up the remote as I switch the station to Nicky, Ricky, Micky and... What're their names again?

You may be wondering how our mood changed so far, the thing is I also don't know but the truth is, I loved it. After all, it was different from being stressed.

Knowing they would do something about the stalker, I could smile.
