PEETA'S POV
Oakley snuggles closer into my arms
"I don't like this daddy" he whimpers
"Its okay buddy we're almost home
I get to the front door and throw it open, Katniss runs into the entryway, her eyes wide and fearful
"Peeta where were you?!"
"There was an emergency at the bakery, i thought we'd make it home before you guys did, sorry"
"Peeta why isn't Oakley wearing a coat? Its raining and cold!"
"It was sunny when we left the house, the weather just changed suddenly"
Katniss relaxes her posture a bit, but continues her annoyed look
"Oh Katniss, i've been meaning to tell you..."
"What?"
"Well... I'm going to the capitol on monday"
"That's only 2 days away Peeta, why so soon?"
"I want to get this over with as soon as i can" Katniss nods
"Okay"

Katniss scoots closer to me as we watch our kids chase the dog in the field behind our house
"Is this it?" she says suddenly, i look at her confused
"What?"
"Is this the life you hoped for?" I smile
"No it's not" she looks disappointed at me
"It isn't?"
"It's so much more than I could have ever dreamed"
Just as her eyes are about to close, Oakley runs up to us
"mommy!" he screams
"Shhh your mom is sleep-" Katniss cuts me off
"Hey buddy... where's your shirt" i start to laugh
Oakley points to Bare
"Brother took it"
"Bare! Why did you take Oakey's shirt?"
"Because dad, River jumped into the pond and got all wet, i needed to dry him off" i shove my face into my hand as Katniss laughs
"Dont egg them on Katniss"
"Oakley certainly takes after you..."
"Stop it"

"Bye daddy!" Oakley screams, i bend down to his level
"Hey, don't scream buddy, you need to be good for mommy, okay?"
"Okay" he says, jumping into my arms
"I love you daddy"
"I love you too"
"You're going to be home soon, right dad?" Bare walks closer to me and chokes back tears
"Of course i am Bare, but I need you to stay happy for mommy okay? It's only for 3 weeks, it will feel like i never even left" i kiss his forehead
"Okay dad" he wipes his tears on his sleeve and backs up towards Katniss
I coddle her in my arms
"I have to go now Katniss" she looks up at me and I pull her into a kiss. One that i wish could have lasted. I just want freeze this moment, right here, right now and live in it forever
"I love you" she wipes her eyes
"I love you too Katniss Mellark"
i like this chapter, its rly sweet
Peeta will be back soon... hopefully
although i love to torture u guys, i think its becoming pretty clear that my threats are empty and im not going to do something that i cant fix lol
