“Beam!” Both of their heads turned in the direction of Beam’s name being called. A woman about Beam’s height walked over to the table and took Beam into a hug before he could say anything.

“Toei, I didn’t know you were back in Thailand.” Beam said, a little nervous. Toei laughed and nodded.

“I didn’t tell anyone except my family. I didn’t want anyone to really know. What a coincidence that I’ve met you here.” She said smiling. Beam nodded, uncomfortably.

“Beam, who’s this?” Forth asked. Beam chuckle softly and introduced Toei.

“This is Toei. She was my friend in high school.” Beam said. Toei laughed and pushed Beam’s arm softly.

“You forgot an important part. We used to date, silly.” She said.

Forth looked between both of them. He slowly put the velvet box back in his pocket.

“Toei, we were kind of in the middle of something.” Beam said clearing his throat. Toei gasped.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt your dinner. You guys must be close friends.” She said. Forth was about to correct her but Beam stopped him.

“Yeah. Close friends. Maybe we can catch up some other time. I can find you on Facebook.” Beam said. She laughed.

“Not before I find you.” She said before walking away.

“You guys dated?” Forth asked. Beam cleared his throat and nodded.

“Yeah. Before me and Ley dated. It was in high school. Let’s not talk about that tonight. Let’s have a good night. It’s our anniversary.” Beam said smiling. Forth nodded. “What were you saying before we got interrupted?” He questioned.

    Forth shook his head.

“Nothing.” He said as the waitress came and gave them their food.

They were silent for most of the rest of the dinner. Neither one of them talked.

After eating dinner they silently walked to the car. Beam sat in the passenger seat and Forth in the drivers.

As Forth went to put the key in the ignition, Beam reached up and stopped him. Grabbing his hand and holding onto it.

“Forth.” Beam said quietly. Forth didn’t respond and continued looking out the front window. “Look at me.” Beam said putting his hand under Forth’s chin and making him look at him.

    Forth reluctlantly looked at Beam.

“I love you.” Beam said softly.

“Why didn’t you let me correct her?” Forth asked. Beam sighed and looked down.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know how she would react. I didn’t want her making a scene in the restaurant, especially not on our anniversary. I’m sorry.” He said looking back up.

“I’m sorry as well.I shouldn’t have acted like that.” Forth said. Beam smiled softly and shook his head.

“I love you.” Beam said leaning in to kiss Forth.

He kissed Forth deeply, with all he had, as if his life depended on it. As if he was trying to reassure Forth that he is the only one he loves.

“I love you too. I love you so much.” Forth said as they pulled away.

“Let’s go home.” He said smiling. Forth nodded and started the car.
