"We're going to see him tomorrow," Akira said. "He sent me where he is and said not to come until tomorrow."

Tears slipped down my face. He walked over to me and hugged me. I cried into his shoulder and Morgana rubbed against my leg.

"He's alive. He's alive," I sobbed into his shoulder.

"He is alive and he wishes to speak with you tomorrow after school. We'll meet at the train station and head over there. Ok?"

I just nodded and kept on crying.

"You better get home. The last train will be coming soon."

"Thank you," I said.

"You're welcome, Y/N."

I pulled away, rubbed Morgana's head, and left Leblanc. I came back into the house and my mother was waiting for me.

"Where did you go to?"

"I headed to Leblanc to talk to Akira."

"Anything good?"

"Akechi is alive," I smiled.

"That's great to hear!"

"We're going to see him tomorrow."

"Tell him I said hi when you go."

"I will."

I woke up the next day and headed to the train station. The school day was dragging by so slowly. The day ended and I headed out to see Akira was waiting at the train station for me.

"Ready?" he asked.

"Yeah," I said and we waited for the train. We got on and sat down.

"This is going to be a long trip. You can rest until we get there. I'll wake you up."

"Ok," I said. "Mind if I rest my head on your shoulder?"

"Not at all."

I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. Akira shook me awake when we got there.

"Hey, Y/N, wake up."

I opened my eyes and we got off the train. The station we walked in seemed to be run down. The paint was chipping and there wasn't a lot of people there. I followed Akira out of the station and into a small populated city.

"Where are we?"

"This is a desolate area. It's about an hour from Shibuya."

"And Akechi is here?"

"He wanted to keep a low-key profile." (Get it. Because his other persona is Loki.)

"So he came here to be on the down low?"

"Yes."

I nodded and looked at the small populated area. The people there seemed to be confused to see us, since we still had our uniform on. Akira stopped outside of a small and local hospital.

"He's in here."

We walked in and a nurse was sitting at the desk.

"Hello," she said.

"Hi. We're here to see Goro Akechi."

"Room 32."

"Thank you."

We were about to walk down to his room, but I grabbed Akira's sleeve.

"Hey, can we at least get him a 'get well' card?"

"Sure," he said and we headed to the small gift store. I bought him a card, signed it, and put it in my bag while we walked down to find his room. Room 32 was at the end of the hall and the door was closed. Akira knocked on the door before entering.

"Akechi?"

"Come in," he said in a hoarse voice.

We walked in and I thought I was going to faint. I walked in and saw Akechi was sitting in a hospital bed. There was a bandage around his head and his right arm. He turned over to look at me. He gave me a sad smile before turning away from me.

"I'll let you two talk. I'll be outside, Y/N. Text me when you're done."

"Thank you, Akira," I said.

He walked out and closed the door. I set down the card before pulling a chair up next to him and sat down. We sat there in silence for a little bit until Akechi broke the silence.

"I'm sorry for everything," he said and coughed.

"Akechi, why didn't you tell me in the first place?"

"I didn't want you to leave me. I was afraid of losing you. No one has ever been my friend let alone want a relationship with me. You're my first real friend I have ever had. And I didn't want to risk losing you."

"You could of just told me you were the one who killed my father."

"I did not use the mental shutdown method. I just shot him."

I shook my head, "You should of told me. I might of gotten mad, but it would of left because I never had a good relationship with my father. I don't really remember him since he was never present in my life. Look, we're the same. Your father was not part of your life and you want to feel loved, wanted, and accepted. I get that. I understand, but you could of told me what you did."

"I was also the reason Akira disappeared. He went to jail."

"You sent him to jail?!"

"I'm sorry, Y/N. I was just jealous of him."

"You could of told him without sending him to jail!"

"Y/N."

"What?"

"You're the reason I want to quit all of this. I don't want to go to the Metaverse anymore. I don't want to cause anymore mental shutdowns. I just want to be a detective. You're the reason as to why I want to change who I am. Will you help me?"

I rested my hand lightly on his, "I will help you. I will always be there to help you."

Akechi smiled, "Thank you."

I leaned over and pressed my lips lightly against his. He kissed back, reached up with his other hand, and rested it against my cheek. I pulled away and he kissed my forehead.

"I can't thank you enough, Y/N."

"When you get out of here, I want to treat you to a nice dinner."

He smiled, "You don't have to do that."

"I want to since you need a night out. Your hair looks really bad."

"I haven't had a shower since I got in here yesterday."

"Can I do something? It's just to experiment."

"Sure," he said.

I got up and walked behind him. I took his hair and put it into a small but loose ponytail. I sat back down and smiled at him.

"Aww, you look so cute."

"I don't know what you did."

"I put your hair into a loose ponytail."

"Really?" he reached behind him and felt the ponytail. He smiled. "Huh, I like it."

"You should put your hair up more. I like it."

"I think I will."

I looked at the clock and sighed, "I should be heading out."

"Don't miss your train. It's far from where Shibuya is."

"Why did you come out here?"

"To avoid being asked many questions."

"That's unlike you, Akechi."

"First start on my road to a change."
