"Okay, so for the next two weeks you have a group assignment," Mike says. "I just mailed you a script. Your job is to read it and put together a pitch portfolio, just like we talked about today." I'm excited, I like this part of producing.
"Ana and Lucas make a pair, Amy and Will, Hero and Charlotte." Oh no. No no no no no. We haven't talked once since the faculty mixer. Hero looks pissed for the rest of the class. I'm not given the chance to talk to him about it because he runs out as soon as Mike ends class. I go to the bathroom first. When I want to turn the corner to take the stairs, I hear voices.
"Please Mike, can I get another partner?" Hero begs.
"But why?"
"I don't want to work with her. We already live together. Well .. almost."
"She's smart. Her previous assignment was great. You'll stick with her. I won't change everything around now." I've heard enough. I walk past them and I hear Hero gasp. I walk as fast as I can.
"Charlotte! Wait!" Hero yells as I cross the street. People are staring but I keep walking. Asshole.
