I walked in the forest, the trees were big, plants covered the floor, fallen trees were scattered across the forest from the attack 8 years ago. Baby trees started to grow where their parents have fallen. The breeze was light and felt amazing, especially on this hot day.
I was halfway through the forest when I heard horses running my way, I looked around but saw nothing. I continued to walk when I heard a few deep voices, not knowing where they were coming from I panicked and started to run towards Ships Haven. It seems like they were getting closer and closer so I started to run faster and faster. The plants became thicker and thicker, eventually, I appeared in an open part of the forest but before I knew it I was almost trampled by a horse coming from my right. It pushed me back as it flew by, slowing down as it realized the rider almost ran over me. I immediately pulled over my hood as the man hopped off the horse, taking off his helmet. "Are you alright miss? We didn't see you coming out of the bushes." He said with a charming voice.
I shook my head. "No, I'm alright." I looked at him, he was very handsome, he looked like he was around my age maybe even a little older. Not realizing I was blushing I smiled at him until I saw his suit. He worked for the king, had a captain patch on his chest.
He walked over and knelt down, offering his hand. I was scared at first but I took it. "Are you sure your alright?" He asked as he helped me up.
I nodded as I pulled my hand from his.
"So I have a question." He rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Have you seen a girl around here? She has white hair, blue eyes, looks like she's in her teens?" He asked hoping I would have seen her, not realizing I WAS her.
I shook my head and spoke in a soft kind voice. "I'm sorry I haven't seen her." I pretended to be sad about the situation.
"Hey it's alright, I'm pretty sure she's around here somewhere. We just got here after all!" He laughed awkwardly.
"Well, I have to go so..." I turned around before I felt a hand on my arm, I turned around and saw he held my arm.
"Wait!" He said frantically. There was a pause between us before he sighed. "W-What's your name? I haven't seen a girl like you before." He blushed before taking out his sword and planted it into the ground out of respect. "My name is Davion, I'm one of the loyal head guards of the capital."
"Ok?" I was weirded out but I had to admit that he was kind of cute. I felt a nudge on my arm, it was his black horse.
"That's Sir Knight, he's my horse." Davion said proudly. The horse continued to push on my arm until I stroked his nose.
"He's beautiful...." I said.
"Thank you... he really likes you." He paused. "Please tell me, which town are you from?" He asked smiling up at me.
"The town nearby...." I responded quietly while the horse started eating some grass by my feet.
"I see, your not from Ships Haven?" He got up and put his sword away while giving me a serious look.
If I tell him the truth he might suspect me, if I tell lies then it might put my town in danger but he doesn't seem like that kind of guy.... I guess I can play along with him, to get him on my side.
He continued to stare at me wondering what I was thinking about. I shook my head in response to his question. He sighed and smiled, the breeze continued to slowly move through the air, moving leaves, his hair, and my hood. I bowed. "Excuse me but I have to go." I began to run in the opposite direction.
"Wait!" He called to me. I turned around and looked back at him. "When will I see you again?" He asked.
I smiled. "I don't know, come back and find out." I ran off, leaving him in the forest.
I didn't go back home, instead, I went to Ships Haven. The graves I dug for all my friends, burying them one by one. 8 years since I last saw them, 8 years since I talked to them, never going to see any of them again. I stood before the graves of my two friends and my caretaker. I looked down at the earth that covered their bodies, tears poured down my cheeks and combined with the earth. Crying turned into weeping then weeping turned into sobbing. I curled up to my knees and wept.
Before I knew it, it was night time. All I could see was darkness, the breeze was cold like my heart at that moment. My eyes were shut and my head was buried into my knees. I looked up and saw how beautiful the stars were, they were brighter than usual. A mix of black, purple, pink, and blue colors stretched across the sky. I stared in amazement when I noticed a shooting star shoot in sight, it was so fast I barely saw it but I knew it was there. I closed my eyes, hope started to come back to me, I wished for something then opened my eyes again.
"It'll be okay...." I started to tell myself. "Once I take the kingdom, everything will go the way it should be, and finally granny and I can live peacefully."
