I AM NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING STORIES FOR REVIEWS

Hello darlings. I'm doing a review book again, because that's what all the cool kids do nowadays. It's not going to be one of those epic, long, detailed reviews because ain't nobody got time for that. However, there will be prizes, so read on to learn about that ;)

I will discuss what I did and didn't like, and I will give you ratings out of five on the following categories:

Presentation

This includes not only your cover, but also your headers, how long your chapters are, whether you have a bunch of unnecessary extra chapters, etc. I understand not everyone is a graphics designer, but if you can't have a professional cover, you should at least present the book in a professional manner. 

Hook

This is all about whether or not you start your book in a way that makes me want to keep reading. It's largely subjective but I will try to note if I think my personal biases got in the way. Blurb and first story chapter are included here.

Grammar

This includes typos, spelling errors, punctuation, verb tenses, improper sentence structure, and repetitive phrasing. I will utilize much self-control in scoring this category because every mistake hurts my soul, but I have to save those zeros for the people who don't capitalize and use six exclamation points.

Plot

This includes all the aspects that go into making a well-written plot. If there are contradictions, confusing aspects, pacing issues, or things that are just plain absurd, your rating will be affected. Again this is something that can be subjective, and I will note if this is something personal to me.

Characters

This is about how well your characters are developed. This is a big deal because most of the time characters make or break a book for me. An obnoxious protagonist, insta-romance, or cartoonishly evil villain will not fly.

Enjoyment

This is about whether or not your book was interesting and entertaining to read. Obviously this is almost entirely subjective, but I still think it's helpful to know whether or not people enjoyed your book and why. Things that will influence your enjoyment factor are infodumps, lack of descriptions, purple prose, writing style, humor, creativity, etc.

To determine these scores, I will read your first three chapters, or however many you have if you have less than three. Prologues count as a chapter, and I will judge them as your first chapter. Author's notes, aesthetics, and other non-story chapters will not be included in the three chapter limit, but they will be taken into consideration for your presentation score.

In the past when I did reviews, I read until I didn't want to keep reading. However, I've decided to be kind and give you three chapters to try and win me over, in case your first one fails. There is no minimum or maximum length requirement. 

There are some genres I don't accept, simply because I don't enjoy reading these genres in general and I wouldn't be able to write a quality review for them. Please don't be hurt if your book falls into one of these categories, I'm just not the right reviewer for you. Also please don't try to re-brand and stick it in another category because that will frustrate me greatly.

Horror, Erotica, Poetry, LGBTQ+, Spiritual, Non-fiction, Vampire, Werewolf, Fanfiction

If your book does not fall into one of the above categories, you may fill out the form and complete the payment. You can apply to have multiple books reviewed; however, you can only have one book in the queue at a time. So wait until after I've finished your first review to decide if you want me to review your second lol.

But wait- prizes were promised! Yes, any book that scores a 25 OR 5/5 on Enjoyability will be added to my Favorites reading list, and I will read the fourth chapter. I may also vote on books if I'm enjoying them, but I'm not offering that as a prize per se because that's illegal ;)
