Peter, Michelle and Jake all walked together towards the Jones' house, and to say it was a little awkward was an understatement. Peter could feel Jake's small hand quivering in his, clearly still a little shaken over what had just happened.
Peter had decided to follow them both as they walked home, just to make sure that they got home okay, however when he saw from the top of a building that they had suddenly started to speed up and then duck into a dark alley he knew something was happening.
They had disappeared from his sight for a moment, but after he peaked over the side of the building ledge he could see them hiding behind a big dumpster. Peter regretted not bringing his suit to school that day. I know, I just know that MJ saw me. When I looked down at them she looked up and locked eyes with me. I need to be more careful. I can tell she feels nervous around me. Does she know something?
Peter stared down at his feet, trying to decide how to explain what just happened. 1. Oh, I just got lucky. 2. That dude was a terrible fighter, I mean seriously May could do better than him. Or 3. You see, I'm actually Spider-Man and I- yeah no this just isn't going to work I'll just wing it.
Peter let out a sigh, one filled with a range of emotions. Confusion, frustration, anxiety and nervousness. Although what the nervousness was coming from, Peter wasn't sure. He shook his head, trying not to think of everything that is going on in his life right now and instead focusing on walking Michelle and her brother home.
"Just up here," Michelle said, speaking for the first time since they started walking together. "Okay," is all Peter said. It wasn't like he could explain to her how he actually already knew where she lived, that would be a whole other explanation. Even though he had been to her place before as himself, in her mind he had taken a taxi, so he only needed her address, much different to actually walking the streets to get somewhere.
As they approached the building Peter wondered whether she would want him to come inside or whether he should just go once they get there. I've never been in this situation before and I'm confused, MAY HELP ME!
But as no miraculous call from his Aunt came, they arrived at the bottom of the building. Peter went to open his mouth to say something, what that was even he didn't know, but he didn't get the chance, as Michelle beat him to it, answering a question he hadn't verbalized yet. "Hey Peter, could you come up for a bit. I want to talk to you."
Peter nodded and gave a small smile, agreeing. Jake, now excited at the idea of Peter hanging with him started to tug at Peter's hand. They entered the apartment complex and made their way to the sixth floor. Peter felt relieved to see that they had improved their door situation, and as now there was an actual door there.
Michelle caught him looking at it. "Mom replaced it the night after you came." Peter made and o with his mouth, and after she opened the door and stepped inside he followed, or more so was dragged in by Jake. "Peter! Do you want to play with my legos?" Jake asked excitedly. He has legos???!!!!
"Sorry Jake, you guys can play later. I need to talk to Peter," Michelle quickly said, causing both Peter and Jake to frown. "Next time buddy," Peter said, putting a hand on Jake's shoulder. The young boy nodded sadly before he walked off to some other part of their home, leaving Peter and Michelle alone in the living room.
"Sit," she said as she left the room to grab something. Why do I feel like I'm in trouble? He did as she said and sat down on the couch, fiddling with his fingers as he waited for her to return. As every second went by with him sitting there, not knowing what was about to happen or what they were going to talk about, the more nervous Peter became.
