Shawn Mendes
I watched her face as the video played.
I tried to read what she was thinking by her expression but she was blank.
I could just about make out the colour change in her cheeks.
Discreetly as I could I reached for her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze in mine.
I watched her more than I did the video. I had seen it once before and was more concerned about her.
Her mouth hung slightly open, her eyes wide, she was hardly holding my hand back.
I could tell that the crowd was enjoying it from the occasional hollering and claps.
But I couldn't read her. I couldn't see if she was upset, shocked, happy, in awe.
As the video ended and the lights in the arena came up I pulled her and mum away quickly from the screaming crowd, especially as I saw Faith cover her ears.

I pulled her quickly into the dressing room and shut the door.
"What's wrong? You didn't even react to the video" I said and pulled her down onto the leather sofa.
"I- I don't know" she stammered out.
"Don't know what? Are you not happy with it?" I panicked.
"It looks amazing. It's really good. I'm just not used to seeing myself like that. It was just strange I guess." She said with a small smile and I calmed down marginally. "I think they liked it" she sighed.
"I think they did but I'm more concerned about you" I said and she put her small hand over in mine.
"Shawn, I'm ok. I thought it was amazing. I'm just scared about what comes next" She said and I nodded.
"I'll be here. I've got a huge rest break until about June now" I told her and she nodded. "You could even come with me after your school has finished"
"That would be great." She blushed. "What are you going to do in between?"
"Go back home and just be with the family. See friends and I've got the Met" I said and she sighed lightly.
"I always love watching the Met gala. It looks so good" she smiled and I nodded. A little lightbulb flashing on in my head.

"Where are you staying tonight?" I asked as I got changed.
"At my house. Although, I don't know how I'm getting home" she giggled and I remembered her friends had left her here.
"Stay with me" I shrugged and her head snapped up.
"What?"
"I've got a hotel for two nights. I leave on Sunday evening, stay with me" I said again. "Please?"
"I don't want to intrude on any plans you have with, erm, anyone, or parties," she said and I shook my head.
"I don't have any plans. And in the U.K. you can come into bars and clubs with me" I winked.
"If you're sure. I'll ring mum" she said and I nodded.

"Why are you in my house?!" I heard her say suddenly and I raised an eyebrow. "I don't care if you think my mums a nice accepting woman! That's weird Ryan!" She continued and I couldn't help but smile. "Put mum on the phone...no...Ryan I swear to fuck put mum on the phone and get out of my house, please" she sighed, but I could see that smile toying on her lips.
"Mum, firstly, please don't let my friends round if I'm not home, it's very strange, secondly, is it ok if I stay up in London with Shawn until Sunday?" She asked and I smiled when I saw her face relax in relief. "I have money and a charger. I promise. I'll find clothes from somewhere I'm sure. I will. No mum, but who knows. I love you too. Bye!"
She hung up and smiled.
"Your friend Ryan seems like a character" I smiled and she rolled her eyes.
"You have no idea" she smiled.
"So?"
"Oh! I can stay, as long as I text her, charge my phone, and I need to find, Well I need to find pyjamas and a toothbrush I don't think I need makeup but I have a bit in my bag" she explained and I nodded gathering all my things together.
"Don't worry about pyjamas" I said and her cheeks slowly turned pink. It was only then I realised what I had said. "I didn't mean like that I, Well I might, I-"
"I understand" she interrupted.

By the time we arrived to the hotel I was almost convinced the sun would soon be coming up. I was exhausted.
"Are you two going to be staying together?" Mum asked and I nodded as we got out of the car and walked into the hotel.
"Is that ok?" I asked and she almost burst out laughing.
"Of course. Your twenty years old you can do what you like. I'll just put my feet up I'm exhausted" she smiled kissing my cheek and walked away.

"Holy fucking shit" I heard from beside me as we walked into our room.
"Nice isn't it?"
"Nice?! Nice?! It's made for royalty!" She gasped and I couldn't help but smile. "Shawn! They have toothbrushes and everything here!" I heard her squeal from the bathroom and I let out a long laugh and shut the door.
I put down my bags and leaned against the bathroom door frame. It was like watching a kid in a candy store as she videoed the bathroom and the room, sending it quickly to her mum.
"This is the most adorable thing I've witnessed in ages" I laughed and she smiled at me.
"You must be exhausted" she pouted and I nodded. "I can sleep on the sofa, I mean it's nearly as big as the bed anyways"
"Don't be silly. If you don't mind sharing then I don't."
"Ok. Please could I borrow a T-shirt?" She asked.
"You could just take one. I wouldn't mind"
"Thank you" She said as I gave her a plain white T-shirt.

"So, I think we should talk about everything properly" I said as we both sat up in bed.
"Aren't you tired?" She asked and I shrugged.
"Yes but I want to talk to you about it"
"Ok." She sighed.
"Have you thought about me?" I asked and she nodded quickly.
"Almost every day. Even when I got asked out" she giggled.
"You got asked out? You have a boyfriend?"
"What? No. This guy at school asked me out on a date but I didn't say yes. I knew that I would just be using him as a distraction from you and that's not fair. Besides, Ryan fancies him" she smiled and I nodded.
"I've thought about you as well. Don't think I haven't. I'm reminded of you every day on tour. I get asked at least two questions about you in the Q&As" I sighed. "How's school been since you've been back?"
"People just want to get to know me to get to know you. I think people want to get to know me for me but they don't. It's definitely hard I can't lie. Sometimes I just stay home because I can't be bothered. I've wanted to message you a few times to help but I didn't want to disturb you. But I'm fine" she sighed.
"Don't say it's fine if you're not fine" I said and held my arms out for her.
Slowly, she crawled over and into my arms, resting her body against mine.
"I am fine. I'm just getting used to it all" she sighed.  "But how have you been?"
"Tired. But I love it. And I'm happy your friends dragged you" I told her and she nodded looking up at me.
I kissed the top of her head and admired how her eyes shimmered in the vast bit of moonlight.

I would say I was glad to have her back, but I was unsure of how much of her I had back.
