I had absolutely no idea what to even wear. What had I gotten myself into? I barely had any dresses that fit me, let alone that I actually LIKED. I was mid panic when Archie knocked on my open door. "Hey, Noe. You look stressed... What's up?" he asked, with genuine concern in his eyes."I'm going to a party and I don't have ANYTHING to wear," I informed him. He laughed at me, seemingly about to make fun of me for being so dramatic but decided against it. Smart boy!
"You can borrow something of Ronnie's. She always leaves some dresses here, just in case there's an 'emergency' as she loves to say," Archie informed me, with a warm smile. I thanked him and agreed, and he led me to Veronica's little closer of dresses and clothes. After a short analysis, I decided that a pastel baby blue body con dress would do well, and as for shoes I decided to stick to my white converse. I was NOT about to wear full blown heels to a high school party.
Ronnie texted me about 20 to 9 PM and told me she was on her way. Honestly, I was excited. However, something inside me told me I was excited for all of the wrong reasons. Sweet Pea was exactly not what I needed now, and if I could just avoid him for the whole night and hopefully forever, I might have a chance at an actual normal life here, which, is exactly what I wanted in the long run.
Veronica texted me that she was here and I got into the car out front. Betty was already in the backseat and I joined her. We said our hellos and Veronica made small talk with André. Shortly, we got there. It was a house that was stationed behind a huge waterfall/hill situation that was going on. The house was nice, looked like it was freshly built and probably very, very expensive. "My dad bought this house for some of the people on the south side. I think he's trying to prove himself," she told me with a dull laugh. Veronica didn't seem like she had any sort of remorse for her father, and I wondered why. But then again, it wasn't my place to ask.
We walked into the house and I spotted Toni almost right away. She was talking to some girls from school, sitting around a keg. She noticed me right away and sprung up to hug me. She was about the same height as me, which worked out and our hugs didn't feel awkwardly painful, which was something I was extremely grateful for. I introduced the girls and let the party take course. People rubbing up against each other and getting high off Jingle Jangle, a drug I hear is ALL over Riverdale. I learned my lesson with drugs a long, long time ago so I wasn't going to fall into that hole anytime soon.
Eventually, I strayed from the girls I came to the party with and found myself in an empty room filled with CD's and a beer in my hand. I trailed my fingers over all of the old music they had, stopped at a Britney Spears CD. What was Britney doing in a charity home, I laughed to myself.
"Britney, huh? Good choice." I heard a deep voice come from around me. I knew exactly who it was, too.
"Thank you! I mean, she is the PRINCESS of pop culture!" I entertained, not turning around and giving him the satisfaction of being able to flirt with me. "How about you look at me?" He pushed, to which I responded with a "Mm," and kept looking around the CD's. "Oh, so I make you nervous?"
He knew this would cause me to whip around and face him with a dirty look, and he was absolutely right. I was close to him, now. He was taller up close, and even looking up to meet his eyes was somewhat of a struggle. "New girl, right?" He said, trying to get some type of information out of me.
"Wouldn't you like to know? Maybe I've been here the whole time!" I shot back.
"Oh no no, hun. Trust me, I would've noticed you before. You're hard to miss." Damn. This kid was good.
