Silence. There was nothing to be heard. No bugs, no wind; nothing. The only thing that was there was silence. I took a deep breath, trying to break it but even that was covered by the eerie sound of nothingness. I took a step forward, hoping that just maybe my step would make a noise, but once again the only sound that echoed through the cavern was silence.
I felt something against the back of my neck. It was like a hand of wind. Something then spoke in my ear. Shhh. I couldn't tell if I actually heard something or it was just in my head. Again I felt the hand on my shoulder, tracing down my arm till it got to the tip of my fingers and disappeared.
My eyes grew tired. Keeping them open was taking to much energy now. I let out a heavy breath. Next thing I knew I was falling to the ground. My legs numb with exhaustion. I laid on the hard stone, it's cooling touch soothed me to sleep. I started to close my eyes. The hand was back and this time was petting my hair back. Smoothing it to my head.
I tried to remember where I was and what I was doing, but the only thing that came to my mind was sleep. The thought of drifting off into the endless space of nothing. Finally being able to rest my body from everything that was happening.
Silence. That sounded good. It sounded peaceful. Silence took over my body along with my mind. The last thing I saw before my eyes closed forever was an evil grin. The grin in the mist. Then silence.
