Here are the things I do not know as I float unconscious through the ocean:

1. The boat was very old and the steering was bad

2. The captain was drunk (that was kind of obvious)

3. He crashed into a large rock, but he could not steer out of the way in time.

4. Near that rock, a magical current pulls anything in this area safely to the Bermuda Triangle

"Rene! Rene, come here! Her heart rate is back up!" says a high pitched female voice.

"Okay, Ashley. I'm coming. Watch the dark one for me." says a more agitated lower voice, but still female.

"Okay!" says the one named Ashley. I hear footsteps near where I am laying

I open my eyes and blink in the warm sunlight. I am laying on a velvety cushion in a big marble room. A beautiful freckle- faced girl with bright blue eyes and dark blonde hair stands over me.

"Hi," she says cautiously.

"I'm Rene. I... or we have taken care of you these past days." she says. "This is Ashley."

A girl with long, straight brown hair that reaches her hips looks up and waves. Freckles cover her nose and her green eyes flash playfully. She is leaning over a groggy, but awake, Amy.

"We found you on the beach. Well, we actually didn't find you, but the guards did. We are only apprentices, but next moon we will be companions!" Rene says excitedly.

Companions? Apprentices? Guards?

Rene sees my confused-and-not-joyful face and asks

"Don't you know?"

I shake my head.

"Who was your birthmother? Was it Ladana, Victoria, or Jessica?" Ashley asks.

Amy and I share confused looks.

"No, no, and no." I reply.

"Those are the only birthmothers on the whole island! Stop joking around. Now who were you born from?!" Ashley says, exasperated.

"You know what? How about I ask the questions and YOU answer them. Where are we?"

"Duh! You're on Atlantis!"
