So what we can gather from this is that gerard does not consider himself very masculine and that people who have met him also don't consider him very masculine

So in the first paragraph it's stated that the guys who said they were tops had more traditionally masculine interests and the bottoms leaned towards feminine roles, since Gerard textually said that he was feminine and masculinity wasn't right for him its safe to say that based on this study (and traditional sex where girls usually bottom) gerard is more likely to be a bottom.
