Back in the 1960s, the skeletons in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland were real.

At the time, they thought that fake skeletons didn’t look scary enough.

So they contacted the UCLA medical department and bought loads of skeletons that were usually used in anatomy classrooms.

As time went on, fake skeletons started to look more convincing.

Disney claims that they gave the real skeletons proper burials, but many speculate that there could be at least a couple real ones left over on the ride.
