Little Girl

Soft,

Like the graphite skin

you've built around you,

Tainted

by the little cuts on your wrists,

Praised,

by the mantra

of voices in your head

Closing in

with a deafening silence

Unbridled

are the cries you hear

Locked safely

within the walls of your mind.

If needed

you'd fight till your lungs give out

and all that's left of you

is the shell of your lifeless body

perched on the silver table

of a doctor's laboratory.

Yet

even the fading sound

of your heartbeats

won't stop you,

neither

will the soreness from your muscles.

Even the inspiring words

of hateful strangers

wouldn't keep you

from committing

the sin of loving yourself.

Such a sweet minuscule girl you are

believing in the benevolent dreams of the world

The same one that snarls and shivers in disgust

at the presence of you on its holy ground.

You'll come to know

how harsh love can be

when it wobbles on the edge

of obsession and addiction.

And that the sun only rises from the west,

If it rose from the east

then pigs would fly

at the sound of your name.

What a sight to see indeed
