Author’s Note: Getting closer to the end, not quite there yet but it’s getting close.

I came downstairs with high expectations. Like maybe there would still be a lot of people around acting like idiots.
Except that, there was no one around. Seriously, this reminded me out of something of a horror movie, like that one movie… what was it called? Scream?
So yeah, it was obvious there was a party here not long ago. There were empty beer cans lined up next to each other between stairs and under the railing. There were balloons left drifting across the hardwood floors reminding me of tumbleweeds.
Not a soul seemed to be left, and yet the music was still blasting.
Carefully I made my way through a sea of beer cans left at the top of the stairs. One beer can happened to bump into another, creating a cascade of beer cans to tumble down the stairs. I froze in place with worry of what attention that might draw with only one foot on the stop stair and the other one step below. It was quite possible the police might have cleared the area and still might be around. What was I hoping to gain from that?
When no one came running in the room from down below with flashlights or worse, a gun, I continued my way carefully down the stairs.
That’s when I thought I heard a voice. “Where did everybody go?” Too bad it was impossible to place a face with a voice. The music was too loud too. So I had no idea where that voice was coming from.
I didn’t catch the sound of a door opening either as a person lumbered themselves out from a hidden closet under the stairs. I tried not to scream like an idiot. I really did. But this person caught me completely by surprise.
“Shit!”
“Shut the front door!”
It was the very same strawberry blonde from earlier. She looked like a complete wreck with her hair a tumbled mess. Seriously, that was going to take hours to comb out those knots.
So anyways, after her lack of course language she held a hand over heart as she took me in from head to toe.
“Oh my god what time is it?!” She had to scream this at me.
“Just after eleven!”
“What?!”
“JUST AFTER ELEVEN!”
“Hold on!” Her white heels snagged on to some silly string and other party objects as she maneuvered herself across the room. With one quick yank of a cord the music came to a halt. The silence still left a ringing in my ears.
