Ja'lynn| 15 years later..
"Dad" i said going into his room.
"Don't ask to go nowhere, yo' ass been going somewhere the last couple days" he said.
"I wasn't even gonna ask that" i said.
"Then what you want?" he asked.
"I started my period. Tete Leah and Kairi are at work and Journey didn't answer" i explained.
"You called your grandma Ari?" he asked.
"Pawpaw said she at one of her sip and paints" i answered.
"Damn" he sighed.
"Aight, you ready?" He asked.
I nodded.

"Why these so small?" he asked.
"Those are for the lil ma's. These are for the fat ma's" i joked.
"I don't wanna hear about no damn Ma's" he said.
"I was kidding, it just depends on the blood flow" i said.
"I'm going to get a drink. Im feeling light headed" he said walking away.
I laughed as i got some pads. I went down a couple more aisles and got some snacks.
"Hey Ja'lynn" a girl from my school spoke.
"Hey" i said.
She walked back to where her mom was and I watched as they interacted with eachother.
"I was looking for you, you ready?" Dad asked.
I nodded as he looked at them too.
"Come on baby" he said putting his arm around my shoulder.
We quickly checked out and walked out to the car. I got in before connecting my phone to the Bluetooth. I needed to cheer myself up.
"Yeah Mykel! Give 'em hell Mykel" i said.
"I gotta nigga that - me so great. Whenever he wanna eat it i just put it in his face" i rapped.
Dad turned and looked at me as he drove.
"Don't play wit' me Jay" he said.
"AS HE BEND ME OVA! AS HE BEND OVA!" I yelled doing a little dance in my seat.
He turned the whole radio off. I tried to turn it back on but he popped my hand.
"You are yo' mother's child" he said shaking his head.
I laughed remembering all the videos Tete Liyah have showed me of her cutting up.
"Period, I'm little B" i said.

My phone rung as I watched A Thin Line Between Love & Hate on Netflix.
"What Kobi?" I asked.
"Pops home?" he asked.
"No, he went somewhere with Uncle Stunna and Uncle Dede" i answered.
"Aight, come open the door for me" he said.
"Where's your key?" I asked.
"Mmcht, dad took it. Just open the door Jay" he said.
"I'm coming" i said.
I paused my movie before putting my slides on. I walked downstairs going to the front door. I opened the door and seen Kobi leaning on some older guy.
"What the hell happened to you?" I asked.
"Some niggas tried me" he said.
"You got jumped?" I asked.
"I beat all they ass, i jumped them" Kobi said.
"Are you drunk?" I asked.
"Don't start that big sis shit. I'm the big brother" he said plopping on the couch.
"By three fucking minutes" i said.
"Three long ass minutes" he said making the guy laugh.
"And who are you?" I asked.
"Excuse me boss lady" he said putting his hands up.
"I was just making sure lil dude made it home safely. I saw what happened, he got heart" he said.
"Well thank you for making sure he got home" i said.
He nodded as i walked him to the door.
"Aye, i didn't get your name" i said.
He turned around.
"Because i didn't give it" he said.
I was a little taken back by his response.
I was about to close the door when he stopped it.
"What?" I asked.
"The name is Black" he said.
"Ja'Lynn" i said.
"Goodnight Ja'lynn" he said walking off the porch.
I closed and locked the door.
"Ain't shit to eat in this bitch" Kobi complained.
I followed his voice into the kitchen.
"It don't take that long to walk no nigga out" he said.
"Boy shutup, stop bringing strangers to the house" i said.
"He ain't a stranger, that's Black. He be on some hood big brother shit. He look out for a lot of young niggas. Tonight he just happened to look out for me" he said.
"Why were you fighting anyways?" I asked.
"I hit some nigga in dice and he got mad because he lost his money. He went to talking shit and I got impatient so i slapped 'em" he said nonchalantly.
"You not dad or pawpaw. You can't just go around slapping niggas especially the ones you hang around. You be the youngest one out there" i said.
"Ima get my respect" he said.
"By any means huh?" I asked.
"Yessir" he said.
"Can't nobody tell you shit" i said shaking my head as i made my way upstairs.
"Can't nobody tell me nothinnnnng" he sang.
I rolled my eyes before closing my room door.
