(AN: welcome to another supercorp fic that will have lots of gay emotions and in the end happiness)

January 31st
"Oh my god Kara you're hilarious!" Lena exclaimed, her voice high with laughter and happiness.
Kara smiled and bit her lip (which didn't go unnoticed by Lena). The two girls sat in Lena's office, both grateful for each other's presence. It was like any other day, Kara had decided to visit her best friend to cheer her up with goofy jokes and fast food. The grey and murky clouds outside made Lena feel like Kara was her light in the dark.
"Okay listen Lee, it's not my fault that you laugh at anything and everything." Kara smiled and Lena couldn't help but look into her beautiful blue eyes. Noticing how they crinkle in the corners when she's smiling her beautiful smile. Lenas gaze traveled a little further down and noticed the reporters shirt seemed to be revealing a lot. Her staring contest with Kara's private area was rudely interrupted by a hand waving in her face.
"Hey hi Lena remember me, your best friend, yea hi, did you hear a word I said? You kind of zoned out there."
Lena shook her head bashfully.
"No u-um sorry I spaced out I was uh distracted."
Kara who had of course noticed Lena's staring just smiled slightly and brushed it off as a best friend thing.
"Okay well I said Cat called me and she needs me to get her a latte so I have to go."
Lena sighed and nodded her head.
"When is the woman gonna learn that you aren't her assistant anymore."
Kara laughed and grabbed Lena's hand pulling her out of the office.
"Anyways that doesn't matter, let me walk you to your car. Wanna make sure my best friend is safe."
Lena smiled at Kara's offer, nodding her head. Kissing her cheek mumbling a quick thanks and linking their fingers together.
Kara's heart sped up as she looked down at their hands and smiled softly. She couldn't help but feel like they fit together perfectly. Sighing a little sadly, Kara released Lena's hand and embraced her in a tight loving hug.
"Never leave me Lee. Your my best friend I don't know what I would do without you."
Lena chuckled and pulled away from the embrace, gently taking Kara's hand in her own, silently wishing they could stay like this forever, but realistically knowing that could never happen.
Lena looked into the shorter woman's eyes lovingly.
"Come on love, you know I can't promise you that. With Lex and my mother after me right now no one knows what could happen. I could die tomor-"
Kara shook her head rather aggressively and silenced Lena quickly.
"No no. Please don't say that"
Lena smiled a warm smile towards Kara, acknowledging her kind and inviting blue eyes.
"Lets just drop it, this isn't a very settling topic. I love you and I'll try my hardest not to die."
Lena smiled and rested her forehead against Karas.
"For you of course." Kara smiled and nodded gratefully, letting go of Lenas hand with one final loving look, before her look of love turned into a mix of anger and concern.
"Its my fault your mother and Lex are after you isn't it? I was supposed to stay the night and I left early and of course they found you and I wasn't there to protect you. I'm so sorry Lee." Lena sighed sadly and shook her head quickly, disagreeing silently with her best friend.
"No Kara it's not your fault, my mother has always been evil I cant con-" Lena was interrupted by her uber pulling into a parking space across the street and honking loudly, signaling the Luthor to cross. Everything seemed to move in slow motion as a car came zooming in Lena's direction.
Kara saw her run across the street like a lost animal, it was almost too late. The roaring of the engine echoed throughout Kara's ears, she screamed and ran towards Lena, and she kept running. Even when she was floating in mid air. "LENA!" Kara screamed and leapt into action. Throwing herself in front of the car. If anyone deserved to get hurt it was her, not the beautiful Lena. The one who always ordered extra kale with a side of potstickers just for Kara. The one who would always make sure to stay in bed the morning after sleepovers knowing Kara freaks out in the mornings when shes alone. The same Lena who was the boss CEO but also the kind loving woman who had spent countless nights holding a crying Kara. No, that Lena didn't deserve to die, but Kara, the one who possibly could be the cause of all her best friends pain, did.
