Sombra's personal armoury was quite literally brimming with weapons, from standard issue pulse rifles to high-powered rail guns, arc weapons to missile launchers. In fact, tucked away in the corner, you were sure you could see some sort of samurai sword.
You could not help but wonder why she insisted on using her submachine gun with a collection like this, personal preference you supposed. Sombra collected her weapon, placing it in a holster with a content smile before turning towards you.
"Pick anything you like. Chances are we'll have to fight somebody" she stated, sliding out of the way so that you could stare at the selection in front of you.
There were certainly some interesting pieces here, no doubt taken from high-tech facilities during secret raids. You suspected Sombra was something of a kleptomaniac judging by all of these stolen guns.
Despite the unique equipment on offer, you opted instead for a standard pulse rifle, familiar with the model from your time in the military. With a mission like this, you figured practicality was more important than style. That being said, the pulse rifle in question had been heavily modified, with an extended magazine and reflex sight being just two of the new additions.
"I'll take this if you don't mind, it's similar to the one I used..." you started, interrupted by Sombra before you could finish.
"During your time in the military? I did steal it from a US barracks..." she replied, shrugging her shoulders casually.
You nodded your head, and the two of you placed your selected weapons on the ground nearby. As you silently continued to think back to those days, she strolled over to the fridge and grabbed a pair of beer bottles, throwing one towards you.
"Thanks" you remarked quietly, scarcely managing to catch the bottle as you were deep in thought.
Sombra tilted her head, curiously staring at you as you remained quiet. And gently, she broached the subject that was on both of your minds.
"Soo...your time in the military. When I want to know something, there's very little that can stop me. But you...you're an enigma, so much of your file was covered in black ink. I...have a question for you, if you don't mind...what actually happened in Miami?" she questioned curiously, and immediately you closed your eyes.
You could hear the explosions now. The explosions and the gunfire, followed by screams, followed by...nothing. A swallowing silence that was somehow worse than all of the screams combined because of what it heralded. Even a brief thought brought you pain, and you shook your head sorrowfully.
"Miami is...I don't know, it's my Pandora's Box. I think...if I open it again, I'm not sure I'll survive the memories. Not today...one day maybe...and if that day ever comes, we'll need more beer than this" you commented in reply, trying to keep the conversation light-hearted despite your true feelings.
Sombra nodded her head sincerely, smiling at your comment.
"I second that, amigo. So...we've got till tomorrow morning before we leave, what do you want to do? Talon Headquarters is hardly the homeliest of places" the hacker asked, sighing in boredom.
You thought silently for a moment, before smiling widely when you realised the answer.
"Here's a free bar...and from that little tour of the base you gave me earlier, I think this is just about the only room that isn't grey and dull. Let's just stay here and chat" you suggested, gesturing towards the purple sofa.
Sombra nodded with approval, taking her favourite position on the sofa, and patting the cushion next to her. With a small smile you joined her and turned on the TV to have some background noise as you spoke.
