Note: I am Mexican American and I write Ernesto's Spanish the way I speak it. Meaning, not fluently and a lot of Spanglish. Everything else I use translator or ask my mom lol.

Despite the effort, Ernesto did not convince his mother to let him leave his shift early at the flower shop for a party in Port Angeles.

Sure he did not know who was hosting
and the friend of the person who told him about it was his new weed guy but Ernesto does not say no to a party.

And he was in fact grounded for sneaking out a couple weeks ago but his parents always seemed to forget about it after a couple of days.

But alas, Ernesto was determined. With no phone and no television he entertained himself with other things like annoying his mother.

"Mijo por favor, pon atencíon," Penelope watched as her son slouched on top of the counter resting his head on his arms.

Ernesto let out a dramatic sigh and lifted his head to meet his mother's gaze only to tower over her 5 ft 5 frame. At six ft and growing, he never seemed to get use to the height difference.

"Ma there is no one in here," Ernesto waved his hands dramatically toward the neatly organized rows of flowers and to the fact there was no one in sight,"Are you just determined to make my life miserable here?"

Penelope turned and pointed the red rose in her hand towards him, a single look jolted him from his place behind the counter to take her place finishing an order they got this morning.

She never understood her son's need to make everything he did harder for himself. She smiled at her son's concentration as much as he tried to play it off as a bother. He loved the shop and it hurt him just as much that they weren't getting enough business.

"Ma how about this I leave early tonight and go to the party and then mañana I'll come in to open," He told her while handing her the vase of white roses and then grinned,"Se me parece perfecto, no?"

"God you are just like your father think you can get away with everything."

Ernesto just laughs and moves back to the resister but pauses when he hears the familiar ring of bell that signals a customer. When he sees the familiar face of Embry Call, his insides tightened and he's reminded of the text he received Friday night. And how he only just replied this Saturday morning. Ernesto hates texting. His mind always wanders off and then it's days later that he responds. He prefers calls and made sure to let Embry know.

"Hello welcome to Honey Flowers, how can I help you?"

Embry just gave a petrified stare and Ernesto grinned at the rising blush on the boys cheeks.

"Ernesto!"

The tone sends a clear message but Ernesto just leans forward with his forearms for support and the look on Embry's face is so flustered that Ernesto pretends he doesn't see it. Instead he directs his focus on the lady behind him, immediately he knows where Embry gets his features from.
