For some reason, time seemed to move fast. And before I knew it, yesterday became today and it was time to get out of bed.

I have always felt that the nights somehow have always been quite short and mornings took forever to end.

This applies to college as well. Classes seemed to take forever to cease and when they finally did and we came back home before we even know it, it's time to hit the road again.

Isn't that unfair? Is it just me or does everyone feel the same way?

Anyway, since it's time to "get ready", I pushed myself off the bed and walked towards the washroom with my eyes half-closed.

Then I got ready and led myself down for breakfast. As I climbed down the stairs, the aroma of freshly prepared brownies filled the air and without realizing my eyes trailed to the object the scent emanated from.

My eyes found the heavenly sight of a plate full of chocolate brownies and some cupcakes. Yum.

"Ok, wow, mom, you're like the best of the best," I said to my mom as my hand reached to pick up a brownie when she slightly taped on my skin which made me drop it.

"Hey," I protested, quite offended

"They are for Mr. and Mrs. Smith," she said.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith have been our neighbors for as long as I can remember. Often my mom sends them something and then they send us something in return, it had become a tradition by now.

"But that's not fair. Why don't I get to have one? " I question her.

"You can have the ones left once you're back from the college," she replied with a sweet smile.

"Oh, come on, mom. You can't leave me hanging for so long all for one brownie," I said as I made my puppy-dog face.

"You know that your puppy-dog face won't work on me," she said as she packed the cupcakes in a plastic box.

"Can I at least have one? " I ask her surrendering to the argument.

"Fine, just one," she agrees. Finally.

"What about Rose?" I asked her as soon as I picked my share

"Yeah, you can take one for her as well," she responded.

Just then I head Rose honk her car outside. This is what I call The. Perfect. Timing.

"One won't satisfy her stomach and neither will it satisfy mine. I'll just grab a few. " I stated as I grabbed as many brownies as my hands could fit and rushed out.

I swear I could hear my mom curse me in the most adorable way possible which made me laugh. But since I was already out she couldn't do much about it.

"C'mon, c'mon, drive fast," I said as I raced in the car

"What? Why? What happened?" Rose asked, taken aback, as she shifted the gear to drive mode and the car came to motion.

I relaxed back and let out a hearty laugh. Without saying anything I offered Rose one of the brownie and she understood what had happened back there.

The car came to a halt in front of the usual tall and old building I have been seeing for the past two years.

We got down once Rose safely parked the car.

Still munching my hardly earned brownies I walked inside a hall crowded with thousands of kids, ambulating all over the place.

I headed to my locker and placed my bag in and took the books I needed for my first class which happened to be literature.

I and Rose walked with our books and as we passed a couple of boys we heard someone class her name.
