Julie's POV

It was our last day in California and I didn't want to wake up. Maybe if I pretended to be sleeping we'll never leave. I felt Mam crawl over to me in bed, placing a kiss against my forehead - just like she always did each, and every morning

"Happy first birthday" She whispered in my ear - my eyes opened in confusion. She was sat crosslegged beside me holding a cupcake with a single candle lit

"Mam it's not my birthday" I laughed lightly, siting up in bed; and pulling my hair out of my face

"Yeah it is, it's your first birthday" She encouraged me to blow out the candle - I rolled my eyes blowing out the candle. She was probably in one of those moods.

"I wasn't sure what I would have gotten you for your first birthday, but I got you something a little more meaningful.." she bit her lip bringing out the wrapped present, and placing it on my lap. I looked at her for a brief moment noticing her nerves - I wasn't sure what she was doing. But I soon caught on, she wanted to makeup for all the lost times she missed out on. Starting with my birthdays - I took a deep breath slowly unwrapping the present

Her eyes on me the entire time - watching my reaction. It was an album, with a photo of Mam, Mum and I on the front. A scripted engraving just below the photo 'Changing Time' I opened the album finding it completely empty - not a single photo.

"I was hoping to take a picture of you.. I erm bought a Polaroid" She held up the film camera, she looked so fragile and nervous - I did what she wanted; anything to make her happy.

"Smile" She said, looking through the eyehole of the camera - I raised up the cupcake smiling for the camera. Within seconds the film developed right before our eyes. She scribbled along the white boarder lining 'Julie's First Birthday' fanning the newly developed memory and sliding it into the album

"So since it's my birthday today... I get to plan out our last day" I smiled at her, wiggling my eyebrows cheekily

"Nothing too crazy!" She warned

"Yeah.. Yeah nothing too crazy"

Julie's POV

"We are not windsurfing Julie! We don't even know how to fcking surf, let alone in the fcking wind!" She hissed, I ignored her completely; dragging her to the little hut they had setup for customers

"Mam! It's my birthday" I pouted shoving the clipboard into her hands, she groaned and let out a loud and obnoxious noise - completely frustrated with me

"Try to do something fcking meaningful and she turns it on us" She mumbled to herself as she filled out our information

"The winds just right today" A handsome man that worked here said, all the men around here seemed to look the same. Same hair, same tan, same clothes - and they were all so fcking sexy.

"Y-Yeah.. It's perfect" I tried to play it cool, but I failed miserably as I tripped and fell straight into his arms - what is wrong with me.

"I got you" He smiled, showing off his pearly white teeth - we just stared at each other for sometime until Mam interrupted our little moment

"Alright! I've filled it out" She said, pulling me off him and slamming the clipboard against his chest

"Right, let me just go over it" He said, winking at me before going behind the desk they had created outside under the sun - the oversized umbrella shielding us from the scorching heat

"What ya doin'?" Mam hissed in my ear, making me look away from the blonde hunk

"Hmm? What?" I blinked getting out of my daze
