Carlos had been extremely worried when Brooke's phone went off, he knew she had a lot of work to do for the coronation, but never did he think she would leave her phone behind for him. He had believed even less that she would let anyone take her workload for her. "Where are we going?" She asked.
"It's a surprise," In all honesty Carlos had no idea where to take her, so he had asked Ben, Lonnie and Aziz and they had said there was a clearing with a small cottage covered in roses and other flowers out in the woods that Brooke had made by accident somehow when they were little. Aziz showed it to him and told him what kind of music she liked, that was a surprise in itself, it didn't seem like something a princess would listen to, but he had to remind himself that she was different. Ben helped him set it up and then threatened him. "Do you trust me?"
She bit her lip nervously, she didn't really trust anyone, but she nodded, nonetheless. He tied a black piece of cloth around her eyes and brought her into the clearing. "Okay you can take it off now," she took it off and saw her little cottage with a picnic in the middle of the front lawn.
"Oh, roses. I haven't been here in years," she covered her mouth in surprise and Carlos became worried. "I love it, I made this place by accident after I got a little too excited and my magic acted up," she hugged him; it took him a minute to hug back. "let's eat," Brooke opened the basket and laughed, "who packed this."
"Huh? what do you mean, I did," Carlos was genuinely confused Lonnie helped but he did pack it.
"I'm pretty sure Lonnie and Ben are the only people who know about my raspberry addiction," she pulled out a big plastic container of them.
Carlos couldn't contain his laugh, "Lonnie helped, I had no idea she put those in there."
Brooke opened the container and held one out to him "here try it," he held out his hand, but she shook her head and held it out to him again. His face turned bright red, but he opened his mouth and took a bite of it, nonetheless.
"This is really good," he allowed Brooke to feed him the rest of it. "We don't have any fresh fruit on the isles," the more she heard about the isle the madder at her father she became. Carlos took a few more from the container and shoved them into his mouth before he changed the topic unintentionally calming her down. "Aziz said you like this music I was kind of surprised," he turned on a playlist of one of her favorite's bands called 'Halestorm.'
"Yeah, I suppose it's not very princess-y but only my really close friends and family know, Evie and Mal fall in that close friend category now, Me and Jay have to spend more time together before I can really decide. But I'm not only a princess I'm a lost girl too. There are no rules to being a lost girl. We slept all day, played all night. There were no royal rules, I wore a black chipmunk onesie for two years and played a white pan flute barefoot in the woods. Then I had suddenly told been told I needed shoes when I left the castle. I never really grew out of the I do whatever I want attitude. I learned to close off my emotions a lot so that I wasn't disappointed or angry when I was told something about this stupid place that I didn't like and so I didn't get too excited every time I heard a crow."
Suddenly everything started to make a lot more sense she wasn't a princess she never really was, she was a lost girl in a complicated situation made to grow up when she was meant to be a kid forever. She wore black and white because black was the color of her lost girl clothes and white was the color of her pan flute. She was dulling down her feelings, so she never had to feel upset. Dulling down her feeling so she never felt like a grown up, dulling down her feelings so she never fell in love. Little kids don't fall in love they think that's icky. There was no status on Neverland, not like they had here, so why where a tiara? She wasn't a princess; she was a lost girl.
