Ron hissed in pain, making me turn away from Harry and look at him with concern, wondering what the problem was. I saw his pet rat slip from his hand and drop to the ground in a fast grey clump of hair, scattering away down the grassy hill with a start.

"He bit me! Scabbers." Ron said in strained disbelief, looking at the blood pricking his skin with shocked eyes then down to the ground where his pet rat fled. Before I even blinked, Ron started chasing after his pet, running down the hill and stumbling multiple times. Hermione, Harry and I ran after him, shouting at him to just leave him.

"Scabbers, come back!" Ron exclaimed as he chased after the stubborn pet, ignoring my shouted to just forget it. If it was a dog it'd be easier, but a rat is tiny. The chances of any of us catching it were slim.

"Wait - Ron!" I called after him once I realised we were getting too close for comfort - and safety - to the Whomping Willow, which loomed tall and menacingly against the copper of the setting sun. "The Whomping Willow! Look out!"

To my surprise, Ron managed to catch up to Scabbers and quickly grabbed him, sitting on the ground with him in his lap. He looked at us calmly, seemingly now unfazed despite my warnings, before his eyes suddenly widened, pointing behind us, "It's the Grim!"

I whizzed around immediately, spotting a large black dog looking ready to pounce, its dark eyes cold. The dog started barking profusely, its deep voice penetrating my ears harshly, making me cover them.

Without warning, it sprinted right toward us, giving Hermione, Harry and I no other option but to duck. It narrowly avoided us when it leapt over Harry and straight towards Ron. To my horror, it took a large bite of Ron's ankle, locking its jaw and dragging him into the roots of the Whomping Willow with Ron screaming for help, clawing at the dirt in a desperate attempt to pull himself away.

I ran towards the opening without a second thought. One of the tree roots came down with delayed force, whipping my stomach as I did so, but I was too high on adrenaline to feel any sort of pain. All I could feel was an extreme weight slamming into my stomach, knocking the air out of my lungs.

Pushing my feet forward, I fell back as I slid against the grass on my back, slipping through the roots and into the hollow of the tree with Harry and Hermione following in after a few minutes, Hermione landing on top of Harry with a yelp of unexpectedness.

"Oh - I'm sorry." She stressed as she got off slowly, looking apologetic.

I glanced around the darkness, only making out a modest staircase, which looked worse for wear. Following the direction of the stairs, my gaze dragged upwards until I saw a dim light peeking through the small crack of a door.

I glanced away to the two of them. "Where do you suppose this goes?"

"I have a hunch," Hermione said softly with a shrug, "I just hope I'm wrong."

I sighed, ascending the stairs hesitatingly, careful, scared they'll collapse beneath me. My eyes squinted when the light pooling from the room situated just past the final step covered my face. I walked forward slowly before spotting Ron on a couch in the corner of the room with peeling wallpaper.

My eyes went wide and I before I realised it, I was taking large strides in his direction. "Ron!" I exclaimed; dropping on my knees in front of him. Remembering something, I looked around quickly. "The dog. Where is it?"

He looked frantic, trying to push me away. "It's a trap - he's the dog - he's an animagus!"

Looking to the direction of his pointed finger; Sirius Black drifted into the room, emerging from the blanket of darkness concealing him and his emo energy: his hair looking black and oily, all over the place. His face was dirty and teeth looking rotten.
