Chaos ensued in the classroom as soon as the teacher picked the last set of answer sheets from an unwilling student. A single yawn escaped my lips, and I sprawled down on my desk. Hiding my face inside my crossed arms, I closed my eyes. Drifting in the twilight zone, a cluster of fingers tangled into my hair and started combing through them. The surreal sensation relaxed me tenfold.
"How is your hair so damn silky?" Bella's voice reached me louder than she must've intended.
"Cuz I wash them?" I peered through my arms to see Bella's figure turned towards me.
She leaned in closer and audibly sniffed my hair. "Nah, it's more than that. Do you go to the salon before school?"
She sniffed a few more times, making me sharply get up, and defensively straighten the strands. "Why are you like this?" I groaned.
There was no way to get a peaceful nap around Bella. The chaotic classroom was nothing compared to her nuisance. It was worse when she wanted something. Her green eyes lit up, and her lips curled into a wicked smile. "I was trying to get you pumped!" she claimed excitedly.
"By sniffing my hair?"
She rolled her eyes, but the smile did not leave her. "Finals are finally over. You're acting like they just began."
"All the tiredness hitting back at once." I felt like yawning again, but I bit my tongue, making my eyes tear up a little. "Why do they even take exams right after homecoming?"
"They're just giving us time before prom," she said and waved her hand nonchalantly. "Which reminds me!" she beamed again. Her excitement was enough for both of us.
"What?" I asked her and started putting everything inside my bag. I could not wait to get home. I had nothing to do, but it was better than staying inside the school building.
It was a half-day, and everyone was slowly emptying the classroom. My eyes darted around to find Ken. Ever since I had told him about my discovery on Polaris, he has been a little more anxious. Maybe I did not make the wisest choice. A photo of a bunch of people wearing the same attire as our stalker was not the most rooted proof for their involvement. The picture was ages old too, but when Ken saw it, his cocoa eyes turned cold. Maybe I was not that off the mark, but I felt no happiness knowing that was right.
"Calum asked me for prom!" Bella beamed even louder, breaking into my thoughts and making a few students turn their heads in our direction.
"I thought you hated him?" I said, but a smile formed on my face. I was happy for Calum and her. About time he mustered up enough guts to ask her out.
She scrunched her nose. "Yeah, he's stinky, but like all guys are stinky. And he gave me a really cute promposal. Hard to say no to something like that." I did not have to ask her to continue. "He freaked me out. Legit swished out a ring-box in front of me."
