"Ma'asoama" is an old school Samoan
term of affection for a lover or significant other.

-

In Polynesian mythology (specifically Samoa),
Mafui'e is the god of earthquakes.

Mafui'e was also the keeper of fire. Ti'iti'i, a demi-god, won the fire from him in a battle; thus, fire was brought to the people of Samoa.

Nicole Garcia-Colace couldn't believe her eyes-a lean-muscled, tanned, nearly-naked man stood in her path...and then it hit her: love. Everyone always told her it'd hit like a thunderbolt, and she never believed them. But now she knew: practical, sensible Nicole was head over heels in love-with a stranger who just happened to be the reason why the biggest earthquake happened in California.

But Mafui'e the god of earthquakes wasn't about to be a stranger for long.
